Description The Director of Riggs University job is responsible for designing, building, and operating the organizational learning system in a manner consistent with the Riggs Way—Urgent, Selfless, and Excellent. This role will create scalable training programs; develop company-specific curriculum and internal certifications; coordinate and deliver training; and establish systems to track employee learning and competency development. The role works closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), leadership, and HR to ensure training aligns with business strategy, the Riggs Way, performance goals, and workforce development needs. Riggs University Development Design, launch, and operate the Riggs University structure, including governance, learning architecture, pathways, and certification frameworks Define and execute the continuous learning strategy aligned with company goals and workforce needs Establish Riggs Way standards for curriculum design, delivery, assessment, and certification Build and support a dedicated team to support Riggs University initiatives Curriculum & Content Development Partner with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to design and develop technical, operational, leadership and Riggs Way aligned curriculum Create and manage blended learning solutions (instructor-led, virtual, e-learning, on-the-job training, and assessments) Ensure curriculum remains current, standardized, scalable, and role-aligned Establish role-based learning paths and career progression curricula Training Delivery & Facilitation Deliver instructor-led and virtual training sessions as needed Coordinate internal facilitators and external training partners Ensure consistent training quality, learner engagement, and instructional effectiveness Certification & Assessment Design, establish and manage internal certification programs aligned to job roles, skills, and performance standards Develop and administer assessments (knowledge tests, practical evaluations, competency validation) Maintain certification requirements, renewals, and compliance tracking Training Operations & Scheduling Plan, schedule, and coordinate training across departments and locations Manage logistics including facilities, materials, instructors, and learning technology Manage training calendars and communicate schedules clearly to employees and managers Learning Management & Tracking Develop and maintain processes to track training completion, certifications, and skill progression Implement and manage a Learning Management System (LMS) or equivalent tools Provide leadership dashboards highlighting readiness, gaps, completion rates, and trends Knowledge Management & Content Storage Establish and maintain a learning resource center that houses curriculum assets, tools, and supporting materials. Define and ensure content governance, access control, and update processes are followed Maintain documentation and archiving practices to ensure accuracy and continuity Continuous Improvement & Measurement Measure training effectiveness using completion data, assessment results, performance outcomes, and feedback Continuously refining curriculum and delivery based on business needs, learner feedback, and operational changes Stay current on best practices in corporate learning, instructional design, and adult education Requirements Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Training & Development, Organizational Development, HR, or a related field OR 4 years direct related experience 5+ years of experience in training, learning & development, or instructional design Demonstrated experience building or scaling training programs or certification systems Experience working with SMEs to develop technical or role-specific curriculum Strong project management and organizational, and prioritization skills Ability to translate complex concepts into effective learning experiences Preferred Qualifications Experience launching or managing a Corporate or Company University Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) Instructional design expertise (ADDIE, adult learning principles, or similar) Experience in certification, competency-based, or role-based training models Key Competencies Strategic program design and execution Cross-functional collaboration Process design and documentation Data-driven decision-making Clear communication and facilitation IMPORTANT INFORMATION While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk or hear.
