Job Overview:
The Director of Sales and Events is responsible for driving revenue growth through strategic sales initiatives and the successful planning and execution of events that align with the company’s goals and brand image. This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and exceptional organizational skills to oversee both sales and event operations. The Director will lead the sales and events teams, develop strategies to enhance business growth, and ensure all activities deliver exceptional value and impact. This position reports to the VP of Operations or the Chief Operating Officer. This position is a hands-on leader with extensive experience in event planning and hospitality, a passion for creating memorable guest experiences, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Must have and maintain an upbeat attitude and excellent communication skills. Have and maintain a strong work ethic and lead by example, in order to get the best from the team while having fun and maintaining a productive work environment. This position may include Manager on Duty (MOD) responsibilities, requiring open availability for evenings, weekends, and select holidays. Please note that serving as MOD does not confer managerial status or designate a non-managerial employee as a manager.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Sales Leadership:
 Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to achieve revenue goals and business objectives.
 Lead and manage the sales team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
 Monitor sales performance, analyze key metrics, and adjust strategies to ensure targets are met.
 Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders.
 Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the company’s client base.
2. Event Planning and Management:
 Plan, organize, and execute events, including conferences, trade shows, product launches, corporate meetings, and social events.
 Develop event strategies that align with business goals and enhance brand awareness.
 Create detailed event plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring flawless execution and adherence to budget constraints.
 Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and venues to secure services and negotiate contracts.
 Oversee on-site event management, including setup, execution, and breakdown, ensuring smooth operations and quick resolution of issues.
 Conduct post-event evaluations to gather feedback and identify areas for mprovement.
3. Team Leadership:
 Lead and manage the sales and events teams, assigning tasks and responsibilities to ensure efficient workflows and adherence to deadlines.
 Conduct regular team meetings to review progress, address challenges, and foster collaboration.
 Provide direction, support, and motivation to team members.
4. Marketing and Promotion:
 Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute strategies that promote sales and events.
 Utilize digital marketing, social media, and advertising to increase visibility and engagement.
 Ensure consistent brand messaging across all event and sales-related communications and materials.
5. Budget and Financial Management:
 Develop and manage budgets for sales activities and events, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
 Monitor expenses, reconcile budgets, and provide regular financial reports to senior management.
 Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue generation through sponsorships and partnerships.
6. Compliance and Risk Management:
 Ensure all sales activities and events comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
 Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to ensure the safety and security of attendees and staff.
 Obtain necessary permits and licenses for events and enforce safety protocols.
7. Reporting and Analysis:
 Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and event performance.
 Generate reports on sales and event metrics, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
 Use data and analytics to inform strategic decisions and enhance business operations.
Requirements and Skills
Education and Experience
 Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Event Management, or a related
field.
 Proven experience as a Director of Sales and Events or in a similar senior leadership role.
 Strong leadership, project management, and team management skills.
 Strategic thinker with excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical abilities.
 Proficiency in CRM software, event management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
 Creative and detail-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities
simultaneously.
 Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
 Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
Working Conditions:
 Full-time position with variable hours, including evenings and weekends, based on sales
activities and event schedules.
 Primarily office-based with frequent travel to event locations, client meetings, and industry
conferences.
 Requires standing for extended periods and occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds.
 Exposure to various weather conditions during outdoor events.
Physical Requirements
 Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods.
 Ability to routinely perform functions including bending, reaching, turning, climbing and
lifting up to 35 pounds
 Working in a variety of seasonal weather conditions and must be available to work weekends
and some select holidays
 Must be reliable, adaptable, and committed to delivering an exceptional guest experience
 A valid driver’s license and a 3 year MVR
