The Hotel Halifax is seeking a Director of Sales and Marketing to guide our team through an exciting transition period as we re-brand to a Delta Hotels by Marriot in 2025. In this key leadership role, you’ll not only drive revenue but also shape the guest experience, foster strong relationships, maintain key stakeholders, and help lead a culture of excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certificate/Diploma/Degree in Hospitality/Hotel Management/Business Administration or equivalent, or equal industrial experience.
  • At least 5 years of senior-level experience in sales, marketing, and catering, preferably in a full-service hotel environment.
  • Demonstrated success in driving revenue, managing expenses, and leading high-performing teams.
  • Thorough knowledge of social media strategy, campaign, and content development.
  • Familiarity with marketing tools and industry best practices.
  • An add-on for the demonstrated experience in utilizing Marriott sales systems.
  • Must have a vehicle and be able to travel.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Direct and organize change management activities that lead to the successful onboarding of our new brand.
  • Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing sales and catering team to exceed revenue goals.
  • Develop and execute innovative sales, catering, and marketing strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Strategically plan, guide, oversee, and evaluate sales and marketing team’s projects and operations.
  • Leverage extensive brand and hotel industry experience to enhance asset value and drive revenue growth.
  • Oversee brand positioning and marketing initiatives, ensuring alignment with the hotel’s strategic goals to maximize occupancy, profitability, and market share.
  • Analyze market trends to stay ahead of the competition, driving both short- and long-term success.
  • Oversee revenue optimization in collaboration with the Revenue Management team.
  • Manage and evaluate the financial operations of the sales & marketing initiatives to ensure cost effectiveness and optimum utilization of resources by preparing and presenting profit plans/budgets to approving authorities.
  • Participate in the development and execution of a strategic business plan by providing and analyzing current and projected sales data.
  • Perform as an essential part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to take on executive management projects and tasks.
  • Foster a culture of “everybody sells”.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through strategic negotiations and personalized service.
  • Champion community engagement and ensure the hotel’s active representation in the local market.
  • Direct the development of effective public relations, advertising and promotional campaigns, and measure the effectiveness of media spending and the effects on our competitive position.
  • Optimize the use of Marriott Lightspeed and CITY tools and resources for maximum impact.
