Our venues, which originated at The Pumphouse in Barry, each possess an unique aesthetic, ranging from Victorian industrial brickwork to modern shipping containers. However, all maintain Academy’s high standards of food and drink quality, alongside warm and welcoming hospitality.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a senior sales and marketing role, preferably within the hospitality sector.
  • Awareness of trends and developments in the hospitality field.
  • Demonstrable track record of achieving sales targets and executing successful marketing campaigns.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Previous experience of developing staff through a training role.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
  • In-depth understanding of market research methods and data analysis.
  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work flexibly and effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • A confident, outgoing and sociable personality.

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • Master’s degree or relevant professional certifications.
  • Training qualifications (e.g., coaching).
  • Experience collaborating with management and stakeholders on commercial business development.

THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Director of Sales & Marketing. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing our sales and marketing team, and for devising and implementing strategies to increase revenue, expand our market share, and strengthen brand awareness. This role demands a combination of strategic insight, practical application, and strong leadership.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As our Director of Sales & Marketing, you will be a pivotal figure in shaping the Academy brand and driving our commercial success. You will achieve this by:

Strategy & Leadership:

  • Developing and executing comprehensive sales and marketing strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, cultivating strong relationships with staff, clients, and partners.
  • Leading, mentoring, and motivating the sales and marketing team to surpass individual and collective targets.
  • Communicating key strategic marketing initiatives effectively to the Board of Directors.

Marketing & Brand Management:

  • Overseeing all marketing initiatives, including digital marketing, content creation, campaigns, and public relations.
  • Conducting thorough market research to identify trends, analyze competitive landscapes, and understand customer needs.
  • Driving customer loyalty through the effective implementation and management of CRM systems.
  • Representing the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows.

Collaboration & Analysis:

  • Collaborating seamlessly with product development, customer service, and other Academy teams to ensure a cohesive approach.
  • Developing effective working relationships with the operations team to ensure overall commercial success.
  • Analysing sales and marketing data to track performance, identify areas for improvement, and inform future strategies.
  • Effectively managing the sales and marketing budget.
