Additional Information: This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Cavalier Enterprises. The franchisee is a separate company and a separate employer from Marriott International, Inc. The franchisee solely controls all aspects of the hotel’s employment policies and practices, including hiring, firing, discipline, staffing, compensation, benefits, and all other terms and conditions of employment. If you accept a position at this hotel, you will be employed by a franchisee and not by Marriott International, Inc.
The Sheraton Cavalier Calgary Hotel is a large 296 room property with restaurant, pub, and lounge as well as large catering operation, pool, and fitness facilities. FUNCTION: As a member of the Executive Committee, the Director of Sales plans and oversees Business Development and Direct Sales efforts of the hotel; specifically achievement of targeted room revenue and sales mix.
Responsibilities:
The overall sales and Business Development efforts of the hotel; developing, implementing and evaluating short and long range sales and business development plans.
Assist in the development of the Hotel’s annual Sales & Marketing Plan and Expense Budget
Provides leadership, mentoring and support to associates to ensure the achievement of operational, sales activity, and market segment goals.
Participate in and lead sales meetings, training, and other meetings as required
Attend client events, trade shows, community events, brand initiatives and industry meetings; travel as required
Identify and maximize opportunities to broaden the hotel’s market reach and performance among the competitive set, with the objective of exceeding the hotel’s RevPar index goal.
Develop and maintain revenue growth plans necessary for achieving the Hotel’s overall profit targets, including the Monthly Sales Action/Activity Plan and Annual RFP Strategy
Develop and maintain knowledge of market trends, competition, and customers
Direct responsibility for active direct selling & sales targets in specific segment(s), prospecting new & existing accounts to exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections, virtual meetings, written communication, etc.
Direct responsibility for active direct selling and account management in the Airline Segment
Overseeing the development of annual Sales Targets
Participate as a member of the Revenue Management team by assisting with monthly revenue forecasts and Corporate Account & Group rate strategies & parameters
Contribute to the hotel’s marketing efforts including the Marriott Plus Platform, Social Media, etc
Ensuring a safe work environment by maintaining, ensuring adherence to, and promoting various elements of the Hotel’s health & safety program
Review with associates applicable safety rules/procedures & monitor for compliance
Participate in accident/injury investigation and corrective action implementation
Other related duties as necessary
Requirements
Post-secondary education in Sales & Marketing or Hotel Management.
A minimum of 5 years experience in sales and marketing, this will include a minimum of 3 years in a senior leadership position.
Experience in effectively leading and motivating junior and senior sales executives.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Thorough understanding of the sales process.
Ability to research, develop and maintain clients and relationships.
Ability to plan, organize and execute effectively.
Ability prepare and analyze necessary reports and communicate findings.
Experience in strategic planning in an individual and group setting.
Must have own vehicle and be able to travel.
Highly motivated and be able to work in a fast paced environment.
