Job Description

YOUR EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS INCLUDE:

  • University/College education in related discipline an asset
  • Three or more years of Security supervisory or leadership experience in a high volume hotel, casino, or related environment
  • Required to obtain and maintain Occupational First Aid Level II
  • Must possess valid Security License
  • Previous training and experience in law enforcement and asset
  • Previous education in and expertise of emergency safety systems demonstrated by work history and certifications is required
  • Certifications in Safety, Security and Emergency Systems such as Electronic Security, Emergency Call Evaluation & Dispatch, Field & Patrol Training, Verbal De-escalation is an asset
  • Well connected Victoria Police Department (VPD) and Royal Mounted Police (RCMP) preferred
  • Computer literacy with strong knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced, high expectation environment
  • Exceptional organizational skills with previous experience handling confidential issues
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to develop trusting relationships and foster cooperation

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, Operations, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead and coach the Security team to achieve exceptional levels of guest service and colleague satisfaction results, through the application of all Corporate and property security standards and policies
  • Ensure overall guest and colleague safety through the implementation and review of hotel-wide security measures
  • Stay on top of security trends in the city of Victoria, specifically in the hotel environment and take actions to prevent loss on property
  • Investigate and follow up on any reports made by guests or colleagues
  • Handle special security measures needed for VIP, dignitaries, delegations
  • Liaise with local law enforcement, community peers and counsel as required to maintain clear safe and security channels
  • Manage all hotel emergency systems including; key control system, security monitoring system, CCTV and fire panel systems
  • Responsible for the quality and working order of, upkeep and maintenance and regular testing as required by local provincial laws of hotel emergency systems
  • Lead training and coaching colleagues in emergency systems, all evacuation procedures & protocols and non-violent crisis intervention
  • Lead communication, coordination and organization of hotel wide training and process’ in emergency procedures
  • Play active role in Risk and Crisis Management, specifically, maintaining accurate and up to date Business Continuity Plan, Safety Systems and all tools
  • Develop systems and processes to minimize workplace injury in line with Occupational Health & Safety and BC Work Safe orders
  • Available for emergency situations both on and off duty
  • Lead the annual COR Audit with support from T&C
  • Other projects and duties as required
