SUMMARY OF POSITION:

As part of the Executive Leadership Team, the Director of Services reports to the Executive Director and participates in strategic planning, budgeting, and other key initiatives. They are responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs for children, families, and individuals. This role manages a diverse portfolio within a multi-mandate, multi-funded organization, overseeing programs with varying criteria.
The Director of Services partners with management in executing strategic plans. This role demands creating innovative strategies, launching new initiatives, and pre-emptively handling potential problems. In order to do this, they will be expected to exercise judgment at a high level and to manage both expected and unexpected outcomes of these initiatives with skill and diplomacy.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  1. A bachelor’s or master’s degree plus five years of relevant management experience is needed.
  2. Educational background in non-profit management, social work, child and youth counseling, adult education or other relevant human services field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  3. Strong understanding of specific community-based initiatives, applicable legislation, policies, procedures, and community relations.
  4. Multi-service program awareness, knowledge, and experience are required.
  5. Expertise in managing multi-service environments. This position oversees several mandates, funding sources, and program requirements.
  6. Effectively provide the outlined services within the designated service area.
  7. Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
  8. Proven ability to cultivate strong working relationships with staff, partners, and stakeholders.
  9. Hands-on involvement and understanding in addressing concerns of marginalized groups.
  10. Approachable, positive and non-judgmental while managing staff.
  11. Flexibility and adaptability are essential for this role.
  12. Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
  13. Shows great care in handling administrative and financial matters.
  14. Maintain initiative, work independently under pressure, and effectively manage multiple responsibilities, projects, and deadlines.
