Company Description At Enpal, we are not just a company; we are a movement. As a recognized greentech unicorn and one of Europe’s fastest-growing energy companies, we're dedicated to making solar energy both accessible and effortless for homeowners across the continent. Our innovative business model for solar panels, heat pumps, home energy storage systems, and electric vehicle charging stations is setting new standards in the industry. With our mission to empower homeowners to embrace clean energy, we are paving the way for a sustainable future. As a leader in the residential solar energy market, Enpal is expanding and our vision is clear: to become the leading force in Europe’s transition to sustainable and decentralized energy generation. Job Description We're looking for three experienced Directors of Engineering (m/f/d) to lead some of our key business domains as we scale. You'll guide technical strategy while building empowered teams that deliver real impact for our mission of making solar energy accessible to everyone. The three domains are: In the Customer Acquisition domain, you are responsible for the lead and sales lifecycle. You help customers from their initial interest to a signed contract. With more sales channels being added, growing our digital product with clear stakeholder communication is key. In the Enablement domain, you are responsible for creating valid offers for our customers. You move an initial sketch of an energy system to a buildable, concrete proposal. The main challenge here is integration and managing complexity of multiple physical products. In the Lifecycle domain, you are responsible for customer lifecycle, product configuration and communication. You keep an overview of who the customer is, what they bought and how we are interacting with them. You use the synergies of upselling initiatives and new product introductions to streamline the customer journey. We are looking for people with excellent technical and people-leadership skills. Aligning architecture across multiple teams is a key part of the role. What You'll Do Technical Leadership & Architecture Set technical direction for domain-level integration between teams and external systems Represent the domain in key decisions when team members are not in the room Review RFCs, guide architectural decisions and help shape bounded contexts as we evolve our system landscape Lead the evolution from project-based work to product-oriented development Team Development & Management Lead and mentor a group of Engineering Managers and Staff Engineers Empower and enable teams for continuous improvement Scale teams thoughtfully as the domain grows 30–50% over the next 12 months Stakeholder Partnership & Communication Work as equals with product counterparts to align on domain north star and system landscape Manage stakeholders across sales, operations, and fulfillment. Make transparent decisions with complex trade-offs within and across organizational boundaries. Operational Excellence Lead pragmatic improvements in engineering practices, including incident response, security posture, and end-user experience. Balance immediate business needs with long-term technical health Take responsibility for domain-level planning and delivery in accordance with quarterly planning cycles Establish metrics and processes that support both team health and business impact Qualifications What We're Looking For We value candidates who have experienced scaling challenges firsthand, ideally having seen both nimble, fast-moving, agile environments, and structured, methodical organizations. Technical Foundation Experience as an individual contributor for a significant part of career, being able to reason about systems and integrations on the level of an experienced senior engineer. Ability to review technical proposals and participate meaningfully in discussions Experience with microservices architecture, cloud infrastructure, and integration patterns Leadership Experience 3+ years managing multiple engineering teams (3+ teams, 20+ engineers total) and managing managers Track record of scaling teams and processes in high-growth environments Demonstrated success in stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration Business & Product Thinking Strong planning and execution skills with focus on business impact over technical novelty Track record of delivery of complex projects in reasonable budget, time and scope constraints Experience translating complex business objectives into actionable technical initiatives Comfort operating in ambiguous environments while providing clear direction Cultural Fit You help people grow, coaching and creating future leaders.
