Description The Director of Staff Development (DSD) / Infection Preventionist Nurse is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating all education and training programs for clinical and non-clinical staff within the Skilled Nursing Facility. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting high-quality resident care, staff competency, and ongoing professional development. Schedule: Full-Time, Weekdays, Monday - Friday, 8 Hour Shifts, Possible Weekends and Holidays Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop, implement, and oversee orientation programs for all new hires. Plan and conduct ongoing in-service education to ensure staff competency and regulatory compliance. Coordinate mandatory annual training, including but not limited to infection control, abuse prevention, HIPAA, emergency preparedness, and resident rights. Assess staff learning needs and tailor education programs accordingly. Maintain accurate and up-to-date training records for all employees. Ensure staff education programs meet CMS, state, and facility regulatory requirements. Prepare and maintain documentation required for surveys, audits, and inspections. Collaborate with leadership to address survey deficiencies related to staff training and competency. Stay current with changes in regulations and best practices affecting skilled nursing care. Develop and administer competency assessments for licensed and unlicensed staff. Observe staff performance and provide coaching, feedback, and remedial education as needed. Requirements Qualifications Current, active Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in the state of employment. Associate’s degree in Nursing required. Infection Prevention Certification required. Experience Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting. Prior experience in staff education, training, or leadership preferred. Knowledge of CMS regulations, state survey processes, and long-term care standards. Minimum of 1 year with Infection Prevention Certification is preferred.
