JOB DESCRIPTION

The Director of Store Operations – Process Improvement is responsible for driving operational excellence, optimizing labor efficiency, and enabling seamless omnichannel execution across all store formats. This role will lead and manage all retail operations personnel, providing strategic direction and oversight to drive process improvement initiatives, integrate innovative technologies, and align cross-functional teams to improve productivity, reduce costs, and elevate the customer experience. This team member is highly strategic, data-driven, and skilled at translating operational insights into impactful business outcomes.

Expertise in managing and measuring work through KPIs, dashboards, and feedback loops, Innovation management skills with the ability to assess, pilot, and scale new tools and ideas, Proven ability to build effective teams and foster cross-functional collaboration, Strategic agility with the ability to connect operational decisions to long-term business objectives, Strong process management skills with a focus on simplification and workflow optimization

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications: Minimum 5-7 years of retail store operations experience, including store communication, process development, and store supply management; minimum 5 years of leadership experience; minimum 3-5 years of proven multi-unit labor management experience; Bachelor’s degree in business, Retail Management, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent experience; knowledge of Legion Scheduling or similar workforce management software
Physical Requirements: Ability to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment; ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs (e.g., samples, office supplies, or small equipment)
Travel Requirements: Travel required as needed for store visits, meetings, and cross-functional initiatives

Responsibilities
  • Oversee all retail operations staff, providing strategic direction and ensuring collaboration toward company goals, including training, communications, analytics, and merchandising
  • Lead the continuous improvement of store and support-level processes by identifying inefficiencies and implementing solutions that eliminate, automate, or simplify tasks
  • Leverage workforce management systems and analytics to optimize labor deployment, reduce costs, and improve output per labor hour
  • Establish and maintain labor productivity standards aligned with company financial and operational goals
  • Drive change management efforts by training field leadership on new systems and process enhancements
  • Partner with e-commerce, operations, and fulfillment teams to optimize BOPIS, ship-from-store, and returns workflows
  • Champion the evaluation, implementation, and ROI analysis of retail technology tools (e.g., RFID, mobile POS, workforce analytics, planogram software)
  • Lead the Visual Merchandising function in collaboration with buying teams to improve product placement, planogram compliance, and visual standards
  • Oversee the pilot-to-scale process for new tools and innovations, ensuring operational alignment and adoption
  • Lead the creation of performance dashboards, defining critical KPI’s and providing timely visibility to field leaders
  • Monitor and analyze KPIs related to labor efficiency, sales per labor hour, shrink, customer engagement, and productivity
  • Translate operational insights into strategic recommendations and action plans for executive leadership
