Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Development of major institute wide strategic initiatives and structural funding opportunities for sustainable growth of the institute.
  • Deliver strategic direction, people and programme management to grow Tyndall’s profile and reputation as a world-renowned research institute, and as a global thought leader, in accordance with the Institute’s growth plan.
  • Provide thought leadership and programme management to drive Tyndall’s influence on research and innovation (R&I) policy and strategic R&I agendas, nationally and internationally.
  • Developing and implementing comprehensive strategies to advance Tyndall’s mission, ensuring alignment with national priorities and the institute’s long-term goals.
  • Effective management and development of the EU Programmes, Marketing and Communications and specialist external affairs teams whilst ensuring and fostering a positive organisational culture.
  • Build and nurture relationships with national and international policymakers, industry leaders, and funding bodies to support Tyndall’s strategic plan.
  • Oversee the development and streamlining of Tyndall’s strategic planning process, ensuring the identification of and participation to large-scale initiatives, key collaborative projects and strategic partnerships.
  • Work closely with, and provide high quality strategic planning guidance to, senior management and staff as a whole, providing insights, recommendations and dissemination of knowledge that drive the priority areas and decision-making across functions.
  • Represent Tyndall at high-level meetings, conferences, and forums to advocate for its mission and influence research and innovation policies.
  • Enable the European Programmes Office to be successful in its strategic alignment with European funding opportunities, including Horizon Europe and successors and the continued growth of Tyndall’s EU funding portfolio.
  • Ensure the success of the Tyndall Marketing and Communications function in supporting institutional plans and priorities.
  • Direct on all external affairs activities which require specialist knowledge of the semiconductor and deep-tech sectors.
  • Carry out any additional duties as may reasonably be required given the executive level nature of the post.
