Southeastern Louisiana University’s Division for Student Affairs invites applications for the position of Director of Student Publications and Strategic Media. This position is responsible for directing, planning, and implementing all facets of Student Publications operations, including budgeting, contracts, marketing, recruitment, and publications. The Director manages divisional websites and social media platforms, coordinates advertising and promotional efforts, and leads special media-related projects. The role includes direct supervision of graduate assistants and 25–50 student workers, as well as providing leadership and training in areas such as journalism, photography, graphic design, and industry-standard software. The Director collaborates across university departments and with the Hammond community, and serves as a consultant to the Division for Student Affairs on matters of technology use, policy development, publications, and committee work. This position may require occasional evening or weekend responsibilities related to special events or project deadlines.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree from an accredited university by hire date.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or Business-related field.
Experience working in higher education with direct engagement with students.
Supervision experience.
Strong team orientation, effective interpersonal skills, and superior written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to build and steward relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficient computer skills, particularly word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
Ability to complete multiple assignments within provided time constraints with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated commitment to data-driven decision-making, including effective analytical skills and proven results in achieving objectives and goals.
Self-starter who works well independently, but who also thrives in a team environment, sharing ideas and working collaboratively.
