POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Director of Student Services provides leadership, strategic oversight, and expertise in the development, implementation, and evaluation of specialized student support programs. This role encompasses responsibility for Special Education (SPED), English Learner (EL) Programs, At-Risk, Section 504, Independent Study, Homebound Instruction, Counseling Services, Foster/Immigrant/Homeless, and Student Discipline Programs. The Director will ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, foster collaboration, and promote academic success and well-being across all student populations.

SPECIAL EDUCATION (SPED):

  • Oversee the evaluation of special education programs and services to ensure they meet district goals and standards. Support the Director in allocating resources effectively, addressing staffing needs, and ensuring access to professional development opportunities to enhance instructional quality and program outcomes.
  • Monitor SPED programs to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Coordinate with the SPED Team to provide professional development and support for instructional strategies and assessments.
  • Prepare and submit SPED reports as required by the Nevada Department of Education (NDE) and other state or federal agencies.
  • Counsel parents/guardians in resolving concerns related to SPED services and programs, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Education, Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • Valid Nevada Administrative Endorsement or eligible to get it before starting (required).
  • Minimum of five years of experience in education, with expertise in SPED, or related areas (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Title I, II, and III requirements, as well as state and federal regulations concerning student services.
  • Exceptional skills in data analysis, instructional leadership, and professional development facilitation.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing complex programs and fostering collaboration.
