This leader drives operational excellence, builds scalable processes, manages vendor relationships, and ensures alignment with financial and business goals. The Director of Supply Chain role requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical capabilities and the ability to lead cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced environment.   Core Competencies for this position include: * Learning * People Relations * Communication * Position/Tech Knowledge * Results Driven   Essential Functions of the Job: * Develop and implement materials management strategies, policies, and processes to optimize inventory levels, reduce waste, streamline operations, and align with overall business objectives * Manage the materials lifecycle—from forecasting and demand planning to inventory optimization and warehouse operations—to ensure availability, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness * Build and maintain strong vendor relationships, negotiate terms, address quality issues, and drive continuous performance improvements * Oversee sourcing strategies, supplier selection, negotiation, and contract management * Evaluate supplier performance and drive improvements in quality, cost, and delivery * Set policies and controls that maintain appropriate inventory levels while minimizing carrying costs * Monitor inventory accuracy and ensure effective SKU lifecycle management * Lead all aspects of logistics, transportation, and distribution network optimization * Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to domestic and international shipping * Implement systems that improve on‑time delivery and overall customer satisfaction * Establish KPIs and reporting mechanisms for supply chain metrics including cost, quality, service, and efficiency * Use data analytics and technology to enhance visibility and decision-making * Implement and maintain ERP and supply chain management systems * Lead, coach, and mentor materials management teams—including procurement specialists, warehouse staff, and logistics coordinators—fostering collaboration and operational excellence * Develop and manage departmental budgets, financial forecasts, and cost-reduction initiatives, while monitoring metrics like inventory turnover, carrying cost, and service levels * Responsible for coordinating purchasing, inventory management, production scheduling, shipping and trucking department * Responsible for Materials Management and Control    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s): * Experience in all areas of purchasing and materials (inventory) management is required * Expertise in inventory optimization, demand forecasting, and lean/six-sigma methodologies * Understanding of Demand Flow Management, Kanban, EDI, EFT, RFI, and bar coding are essential * Prefer a Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M. or C.P.I.M.), Accredited Purchasing Professional (A.P.P.) and member of National Association of Purchasing Management (NAPM)           * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data‑driven approach. * Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence at all organizational levels. * Proficiency in ERP systems and supply chain management tools. * Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership capabilities * Excellent leadership skills, organizational skills and communication skills, both verbal and written * Able to set and meet deadlines * Must be physically capable of standing/working 8+ hour shift(s). * Must be able to work days, nights, overtime and/or weekends as needed. May be required to travel   Education and Experience: * Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred). * 10+ years of progressive supply chain experience, including at least 5 years in leadership roles * Proven success managing procurement, logistics, demand planning, and vendor performance Working Conditions: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
