Description

SUMMARY:

Company leader for global materials sourcing, warehouse/distribution, Free-Trade Zone (FTZ) administration and government compliance, materials forecasting and materials / production planning. The Director will ensure satisfaction of customers’ requirements at the highest service level by optimizing inventory levels while supporting plant productivity, efficiency, safety, and quality goals, controlling costs, and developing relationships with internal and external parties. OR this could replace the last sentence: This role will develop and implement strategic supply chain plans, manage supplier relationships, monitor inventory levels, and lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs across the supply chain network.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Knowledge of global metals markets preferred.
  2. Knowledge of FTZ administration and government compliance preferred.
  3. Minimum 10 years “hands-on” functional experience with a successful track record of implementing process improvements in logistics, inventory control, and planning.
  4. Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or other comparable areas; consider non-degreed candidates with significant and relevant experience.
  5. Skills with Oracle ERP system, Production Planning and Inventory Management Modules, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  6. Strong critical thinking with the ability to assess situations and provide innovative and creative solutions.
  7. Strong interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills (verbal and written)
  8. Capable of simultaneously and efficiently managing multiple tasks, projects, and programs
  9. High-energy, self-motivated and responsible, with mature judgment and a drive to succeed.

  11. Strong Information Technology background with experience in Project Management.
    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The candidate must pass a company post-offer drug screen prior to commencing work. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will spend time in the plants, occasionally for sustained periods of time. There is occasional exposure to elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold or chemicals. The employee is required to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Must have full range of body motion.
    The employee will be required to use all personal protective equipment provided by the company in compliance with OSHA regulations.

Responsibilities

Ensure and develop adequate supply chain processes across the organization (2 plants)
Develop and implement global materials strategy. Maintain and grow new suppliers, providing security of supply and optimizing costs and working capital.
Recommend strategies to improve business cash flow and EBITDA performance.
Develop tactical plans and execute against strategic initiatives.
Maintain compliance with all FTZ requirements and reporting and oversee any 3rd party FTZ administrators.
Develop department metrics to demonstrate performance against business / strategic plans.
Work with sales teams to develop forecasting “demand” requirements and integrate into a formal Sales and Operations Planning process.
Enhance the current ERP system to develop capacity planning, master scheduling and materials requirements models and ensure accuracy of perpetual inventories, both quantity and cost
Mentor procurement, logistics and planning groups on use of tools to drive business improvement.
Ensure integrity of data (BOM’s Routings, and Inventory) in coordination with technical team
Conduct inventory analyses to track levels across value streams. Manage inventory levels (Raw material, Work in Progress and Finished Goods), ensuring minimal levels to manage business requirements.
Prepare and lead annual physical inventory counts.
Create process for cycle counting along with material/frequency matrix.
Lead logistics team to ensure timely deliveries of products using qualified carriers, including inbound, intercompany, and outbound shipments.
