Description

SUMMARY:

The Director of Supply Chain and Logistics is responsible for overseeing our supply chain operations, including forecasting, demand planning and procurement as well as inbound and outbound transportation, to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of goods to our customers. This individual reports to the President & CFO and works collaboratively with the executive team to make recommendations and execute on to support our strategic initiatives.

SKILLS/CHARACTERISTICS NEEDED FOR SUCCESS:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in supply chain, business, or similar.
  • 10+ years’ experience as a supply chain leader, especially in manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to attract, inspire, motivate and retain top tier talent.
  • Proven experience working closely with both domestic and international suppliers, vendors, etc.
  • Strategic thinker with ability to manage through and resolve difficult issues with creative solutions.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work individually or with a team, both within supply chain discipline, but also company-wide.
  • Possess the necessary planning and organizational skills to meet critical deadlines on multiple projects.
  • Work well with outside vendors to produce quality manufactured parts.
  • Experience successfully communicating with vendors and manufacturing personnel as well as senior executives, and cross-departmentally, both verbally and in writing.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The person in this position normally works in an office environment and must be able to remain stationary majority of the day behind a desk utilizing a PC and telephone. The position requires periodic trips into the plant and occasionally moving up to 20 pounds. Extensive travel by air and car, overnight travel required.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies, processes, and operational plans that support the strategic initiatives of the company, including but not limited to optimize cost, reduce waste, and improve overall quality and delivery performance.
  • Establish and maintain relationships, both domestically and internationally, with suppliers, carriers, and logistics providers to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
  • Lead contract negotiations or re-negotiations with current and potential suppliers, vendors, etc.
  • Manage and oversee vendor relationships to ensure they meet our performance expectations and contractual obligations.
  • Lead and mentor a team overseeing procurement, production planning, logistics, and distribution to ensure they are maintaining solid, positive relationship with suppliers and vendors as assigned.
  • Manage inventory levels to meet demand, while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional, including manufacturing, to align production planning and material availability.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies related to supply chain and distribution operations.
  • Implement and utilize data analytics to track inventory turnover, vendor performance, and order fulfillment rates.
  • Create an environment of cooperation, innovative thinking and creative problem-solving.
