Description
Due to a restructure focused around enhancing the quality of our coaching programme, Hamilton Aquatics is looking for an experienced and dynamic individual to take on the role of Director of Swimming. The purpose of the role is to lead the design, development, and delivery of our entire swimming pathway. This role oversees both Learn to Swim and Squad programmes (with a heavy focus on the squad programme), ensuring a high-quality, aligned, and sustainable structure that supports our swimmers from entry level through to elite performance. The Director will lead programme standards, coaching quality, competition structures, and athlete development systems across all sites. This role is critical in delivering long-term athlete development, competitive success, and an outstanding member experience. While not responsible for a specific squad, the Director of Swimming will regularly be on poolside to mentor coaches and provide coaching cover when required. Key Objectives Deliver a world-class, fully integrated swimming pathway from Learn to Swim through to Elite Performance Ensure consistent programme structure, coaching standards, and delivery quality across all sites through the use of Technical Swimming Committee and the Hamilton Way Philosophy Perform site visits to mentor and support the development of coaches and swimmers Attendance at competitions Lead and develop a high-performing coaching team through effective leadership and CPD Drive performance outcomes through direct coaching and performance oversight Strengthen the link between the pathways Enhance swimmer retention, progression, and experience across all programmes Maintain strong operational alignment with business objectives and growth plans Line management of direct reports Set of Required Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours Desired Qualifications Club Coach or Swim England Level 3 Coach equivalent or above Relevant High Performance or Leadership qualifications desirable Desired Experience 8 plus years coaching experience, including elite level swimmers 5 plus years in a senior leadership or programme management role Proven experience managing large scale swim programmes and multi site operations Demonstrated success in developing swimmers through to high performance level Job-Specific Knowledge & Skills Strong understanding of Long-Term Athlete Development models Expertise in programme design, periodisation, and competition planning Excellent leadership, communication, and people management skills Excellent time management skills Ability to manage and influence large teams, problem solving and conflict resolution Strong stakeholder management across parents, schools, and governing bodies Analytical mindset with experience using performance tracking systems High level of organisation and operational awareness What We Offer A competitive salary package Annual flight allowance Private medical insurance End of service benefit Access to lifestyle discounts
