POSITION OVERVIEW:

As the executive leader within the Team Member Engagement Department at Congressional Country Club, the Director of Team Member Engagement is responsible for leading and developing a growing human resources and talent management team while driving comprehensive people and culture strategy. This role oversees a team of talent people and culture professionals, with an emphasis on building relationships and developing leadership excellence across the Club.
Grounded in operational excellence and proven methodologies, this position focuses on building world-class systems that support the complete employee lifecycle: selection, onboarding, integration, training, development, rewards & recognition, total compensation, and analytics. The Director will continue to elevate our culture to better heights while ensuring every team member embodies our Core Values: Obsess Over Member Hospitality, Be a Thriving Team Member, and Develop Yourself and Others.
This role requires a hands-on leader who combines strategic vision with daily operational involvement, fostering trust, motivation, and barrier removal while maintaining a commitment to continuous learning and team member development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in People & Culture or Human Resources, with demonstrated leadership responsibility
  • Proven track record leading organizational and cultural transformation initiatives
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and multiple department heads
  • Strong background in strategic planning, workforce planning, and budget management
  • Demonstrated expertise in talent acquisition, learning & development, and compensation management
  • Experience with behavioral interviewing, structured assessments, and talent analytics
  • Prior leadership experience in hospitality or service-oriented organizations strongly preferred

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS NEEDED:

The ability to motivate and influence senior-level leaders is critical to this role, requiring significant influence-building and trust development capabilities. Work where there is energy. Success requires understanding the operation and the needs of the frontline team members through genuine relationship. Combined with obtaining cooperation and agreement on important outcomes through complex, senior-level dialogue, coupled with exceptional written and verbal communication skills. The position demands a leader who can genuinely care about people while actively helping them achieve success.

OTHER SKILLS NEEDED:

Ability to foster collaboration across divisions, functions, and all organizational levels. Expertise in process improvement, adult learning, organizational development methodologies, and talent acquisition best practices. Proven ability to perform multiple tasks in high-pressure environments while maintaining comfort with complexity, ambiguity, and change. Experience with crisis management, vendor relations, and technology integration preferred.
