WHITTIER REGIONAL VOCATIONAL TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL POSITION DESCRIPTION: Director of Technology and Information SystemsQUALIFICATIONS: Candidate should have a related degree from an accredited college or university; a Masters Degree is preferred. Licenses in Information and Support Services are preferred with a minimum of five (5) years experience in hardware and software systems. Five (5) years experience of direct technical support is required. Experience in an educational setting/school district is preferred.Candidate must have: A working knowledge of Microsoft Systems, Windows Operating Systems, and antivirus softwareExperience with web-based products, the Internet, proxy servers, as well as phone-based systemsThe ability to troubleshoot and analyze technology problemsAttention to detailA high level of analytical skills Experience with Ethernet internal building networksExperience in an educational environment with both PC and/or Apple platformsExperience with Windows Server operating systemsExperience in supporting school information management applicationsStrong interpersonal skills are required in order to communicate well with all end users and members of the Administration and staff.RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Monitor and manage the districts network systemsPurchase, install and configure the system server hardware and operating systems as requiredMonitor and maintain both LAN / WAN systems and Windows systems, and keep information systems up to dateMaintain the database for student information and employee information systemsMaintain a backup of all files, security, and rightsProvide input into the budget design for technology in order to purchase hardware and software upgrades as requiredMaintain and troubleshoot network infrastructure and monitor network stability and performanceManage the network appliances including the Email archiving server, Spam filter server, the Firewall server, Webmail front end server, and PowerSchool serversProvide the requirements of the system for instructional purposes as required by the Administrative TeamContinually remain current on developments and innovations in the field, determine relevance for the district, and inform AdministrationPlan, develop, and implement professional development activities around technology for the school districtProvide guidance and oversight for the schools website, including sight design and continual updatesDesign a plan for disaster recovery methods and infrastructureProvide day-to-day management of the networking systemSupervise and evaluate computer technicians and the media/library services positionInform the Superintendent on legal matters and updates pertaining to technologyPrepare and manage the district technology budgetCoordinate the implementation, evaluation and revision of the Districts Technology Plan, including the annual report to the Massachusetts DESEAdministration of the DESE Security PortalResponsible for all student information management functions of PowerSchool, including the following: attendance; academic grades and transcripts; teacher rank book system; exploratory grades/scheduling; discipline (including DESE reports); biographical information; locker system; bus system; parent access manager; health records system; staff user accounts; parent/guardian notification system; and student picturesResponsible for all state/federal reports in compliance with Massachusetts DESEOther duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or designeeSALARY AND WORKING CONDITIONS: Between $110,000 - $135,000 contingent on experience12 month position7/202
