Description:

We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Director of Transportation Planning and Engineering to spearhead the growth of our Transportation team. Depending on the preference of the successful candidate, this position can be based in either our Halifax Nova Scotia or our Ottawa Ontario office.
In this role, you will lead the strategic expansion of our Transportation team across Atlantic Canada, Ontario, and international markets. By leveraging your expertise, you will drive innovation, implement forward-thinking transportation solutions, and identify opportunities to grow our client base. Collaborating with the VP of Infrastructure, Managers, and Transportation Group Leads, you will develop strategic initiatives that establish CBCL as an industry leader.
As a mentor and leader, you will inspire a talented team while fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture. You’ll also contribute to delivering impactful projects that shape the future of transportation infrastructure in the areas we service.

YOUR CAPABILITIES AND CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a degree in Transportation planning is required .
  • 15 years’ related experience in transportation engineering, planning, leadership, business development, project management, and financial management;
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in managing, mentoring, and developing teams;
  • Skilled in leading multidisciplinary teams on large-scale transportation projects and strengthening relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors; and
  • Superior communication skills to engage with stakeholders, prepare influential proposals, and represent the organization effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute business development strategies to elevate our Transportation practice, while building and maintaining a network of clients, prospects, and strategic partners;
  • Oversee and lead large, complex transportation projects, ensuring high-quality outcomes, on-time delivery, and the achievement of profitability goals;
  • Mentor, coach, and support the professional development of your team, cultivating a collaborative and high-performance culture;
  • Conduct market analyses to identify emerging opportunities and guide entry into new transportation markets, aligning with strategic business planning;
  • Oversee the preparation of proposals, RFP responses, and project reviews to meet financial and operational targets; and
  • Partner with internal departments to ensure integrated and innovative project delivery, upholding CBCL’s high standards.
