JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a strategic and seasoned Director of Travel to oversee our corporate travel operations and support enterprise-wide travel initiatives. In this role, the leader will manage the end-to-end travel program, ensure alignment with business needs, and oversee relationships with travel vendors and strategic sourcing partners. The Director of Travel will report to the Chief Procurement Officer and will be responsible for over 1,000 travelers and a $30 million travel budget. This role is critical to maintaining a high-performing, cost-effective, and traveler-friendly program for the organization.

PRIMARY SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience managing corporate travel programs, with a strong understanding of TMC operations and enterprise travel environments.
  • Proven track record overseeing travel for 1,000+ travelers and managing travel budgets of $25M–$50M.
  • Deep knowledge of domestic corporate travel trends, systems (e.g., Oracle, Neo, Concur), and best practices.
  • Strong skills in vendor relationship management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience working in a multi-unit, geographically (US) distributed organization. (Delete matrixed, highly regulated, etc.)
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities; comfort working with travel data and metrics.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and project management skills.
  • GTP or similar professional travel certification is a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Travel Program Oversight: Lead the design, execution, and continuous improvement of the company’s corporate travel program, policies, and tools.
  • Vendor Relationship Management: Act as the primary liaison for our travel management company (TMC), airline, hotel, and ground transportation partners. Ensure vendors meet service expectations and performance standards, in collaboration with procurement and sourcing teams.
  • Strategic Sourcing Collaboration: Partner with the procurement team and strategic sourcing leads to support contract execution and ensure travel services align with company priorities and policy.
  • Traveler Experience: Champion a seamless and supportive traveler experience by managing escalation issues, enhancing tools and services, and integrating feedback from employees.
  • Budget Oversight: Manage and optimize the annual travel budget. Track spend, identify savings opportunities, and ensure alignment with financial goals.
  • Policy Governance & Compliance: Maintain and promote travel policies that support company-wide adoption, duty of care, safety, and risk mitigation. Coordinate with legal, finance, and security teams as needed.
  • Reporting & Insights: Analyze travel data to assess program performance, vendor compliance, and traveler behavior. Deliver regular reporting to stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Event Travel Coordination: Partner closely with business unit Events leaders to align logistics for corporate events, meetings, and executive travel.
  • Program Communication: Drive internal awareness and education around TMC best practices, travel programs, policies, and changes. Engage with internal Marketing team to promote travel program benefits to external agents and agencies.
