Responsibilities:
DUTIES
The Director provides executive, technical and administrative direction and support across the NextGen to includes oversight of procurement, employee services, financial services, support service contracts, business planning, outreach and agency collaboration and messaging for NextGen initiatives and activities. The Director executes the duties and responsibilities of the position via approximately 100 employees and the administration of a budget of approximately $243M. Additionally, the Director is responsible for the provision of more than $7B in vendor contracts for engineering resources through the administration of budget and business planning processes and awarding approximately $100M in research and workforce development grants.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Oversees multibillion dollar support services contracts that provide agency-wide professional and technical support services for research, analysis, systems engineering, and integration for NextGen and non-NextGen initiatives.
- Oversees business and administrative processes, budget activities and performance expectations to ensure alignment and consistency across the Directorate to support the NextGen mission.
- Conducts communications and outreach activities in collaboration with FAA and aviation community stakeholders to support agency goals and activities.
- Interacts continually with senior executives and managers within the FAA, key representatives of Congress, the aviation industry and other Federal agencies to ensure awareness of NextGen program status and progress and ensure coordination of relevant programs and policies.
- Promotes interoperable global air traffic modernization through the harmonization of global standards and guidelines that are compatible with NextGen technologies and procedures. Communicates the purpose and focus of NextGen internationally.
