JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a Director to support our Americas Head, Operational, Technology and Cyber Risk (OTCR). Some of your day-to-day tasks will be:

Risk Control Ownership of Operational Risk

  • Act as a central contact point and provide oversight over the controls required to effectively manage operational risk within the business / functional areas for which the role provides 2nd line of defence (2LoD) coverage.
  • Challenge the completeness of risk identification, monitoring and assessment of the corresponding control activities within the end-to-end processes to identify and enable remediation of any significant deficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance with Operational Risk Policy & Standards.

Risk identification and Assessment

  • Validate and challenge the line of defence (1LoD) risk identification and assessment of residual risks within the business / functional areas for which the role provides 2LoD coverage.
  • Assess the control environment including, but not limited to, control design, control execution, control testing and control history.
  • Recommend changes to the control environment or to business practice where necessary to reduce the level of operational risk exposure to within the agreed appetite.
  • Where required, provide a balanced and informed assessment of all operational risks arising from acquisitions or major change initiatives or projects within the country.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Candidate should be able to explain the Bank’s operational risk management process
  • Candidate should be able to articulate the components of operational risk
  • Candidate should be able to map material processes with appropriate key control standards and provide appropriate coaching and guidance to the relevant 1LoD stakeholders
  • Candidate should be able to provide guidance to 1LoD stakeholders on how to apply robust process design standards, standardising processes except for legitimate exceptions
  • Candidate should be able to identify and learn from events and coach 1LoD stakeholders on lessons learned
  • Candidate should be able to provide expert guidance on standards and operational risk management approach

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 5 years of experience in operational risk management as well as knowledge of the Bank’s policies and procedures.
  • Business/function experience (domain knowledge) strongly preferred.
  • A clear understanding of the Bank’s approach to the management of operational risk, or equivalent experience gained in other organisations.
  • Ability to build sound partnership and leverage resources across the organisation to complete deliverables.
  • Sound judgement and courage necessary to perform a control role and maintain effective working relationships.
  • No formal licenses or certifications are required for the role.
