POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of People Operations provides strategic leadership and direction for all HR functions within the manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for developing and implementing HR policies, programs, and initiatives that support organizational goals, ensure compliance with labor laws, and foster a positive, safe, and high-performing workplace culture. The Director partners closely with operations leadership and the CHRO to drive workforce planning, talent development, employee engagement, and continuous improvement across all levels of the organization.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience (Manager/Sr. Manager/Director), with at least 5 years in a leadership role within manufacturing or industrial environments. Experience with driving measurable results through people required.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Masters degree in HR, OD, or Business a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and SmartSheet)
  • Working knowledge of all US Labor laws
  • Multi-site, multi-shift oversite

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Strategic Focus
  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business objectives and manufacturing operations.
  • Lead workforce planning initiatives to ensure staffing levels support production demand. Assist CHRO and General Manager in creating a workforce plan in alignment with budget guidance.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on organizational design, change management, and employee relations topics. Provide insight and guidance on the most critical issues impacting the manufacturing population.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies for hourly, technical, and salaried roles. Continuously improve on-boarding experience.
  • Build partnerships with trade schools, colleges, and workforce development programs to attract manufacturing talent.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers on conflict resolution, performance management, and employee engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Serve as the champion of Avtron’s Affirmative Action Program (AAP), including tracking, reporting and taking appropriate actions as recommended by our AAP counsel.
  • Oversee and maintain ISO processes and documentation to ensure compliance with applicable standards. Oversee the AMP (Avtron Management Process) and ensure the People Development Pillar is meeting and achieving all audit targets.
  • Manage the follow-up process for the employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS) program to drive continuous improvement in employee engagement within the operations team. Recommend manufacturing specific areas of focus to move the needle on our employee engagement scores.
  • Tactical Focus
  • Act as a point of escalation for complex employee issues as needed by the People Operations Manager.
  • Provide clear expectations, goals, and direction to direct reports to drive performance and accountability.
  • Effectively communicate to all employees at all levels of the organization with compassion, professionalism and clarity.
  • Oversee the creation, tracking, and updating of annual performance goals for operations employees. Ensure compliance with Avtron’s pay for skill program.
