Make an impact with NTT DATA Join a company that is pushing the boundaries of what is possible. We are renowned for our technical excellence and leading innovations, and for making a difference to our clients and society. Our workplace embraces diversity and inclusion – it’s a place where you can grow, belong and thrive. About the Platform Organisation The Platform Organization consists of three Principal-led teams: Platform Architecture, Platform Engineering, and Systems. Collectively, you operate the systems across the ANZ region and integration into NTT’s global infrastructure. You'll report to the Senior Director – Platform, AI & Automation (Cloud and Security) and partner closely with Service Management, Sales, and Operations on strategic initiatives. Your decisions on hiring, priorities, and technical strategy shape how we scale for the next three years. This is a rare opportunity: leadership scope with hands-on technical credibility. You're equally comfortable in a senior leadership conversation about technical debt and a design review with your architecture and platform teams. What You'll Do · Build & Lead High-Performing Teams: Hire, develop, and retain exceptional platform architects. You'll grow engineers into Principal roles, create team structures that scale, and build a culture where ownership is expected and excellence is celebrated. You'll conduct performance reviews, and make succession plan decision. · Set Technical Strategy & Direction: Define the 1–3 year technical roadmap for platform systems, including cloud architecture evolution, microservices strategy, database scaling, observability maturity, and the targeted use of AI and automation to improve reliability, cost efficiency, and engineering productivity. You’ll make deliberate technology bets and oversee execution in partnership with engineering leaders · Own Budget & Resource Allocation: Manage annual budget for infrastructure, tools, and software. You'll justify platform investments to Senior Director – Platform, AI & Automation (Cloud and Security), make trade-offs, and optimise spend without sacrificing reliability. · Drive Organisational Alignment: Work with Service Management, Sales, and Operations leadership on technical strategy that supports services strategy. You'll represent platform needs in leadership conversations and ensure that product roadmap aligns with platform capacity and technical constraints. · Manage Platform Demand & Architecture Intake: Establish and evolve a clear “front door” into the platform architecture function, managing demand across sales pursuits, client account teams, and internal initiatives. You’ll define intake criteria, prioritisation frameworks, and engagement models that balance business value, risk, and platform capacity. You’ll ensure architectural involvement is timely, transparent, and scalable, reducing friction while protecting platform integrity and long‑term sustainability. · Drive Platform Alignment: You are accountable for outcomes, with delivery executed in partnership with Platform Engineering and Systems leadership. · Lead Talent Development & Succession Planning: Identify high-potential staff and develop them toward leadership. You'll create mentorship programs, sponsor promotions, and build a pipeline of future directors. · Establish Performance & Reliability Standards: Set SLOs, define incident response processes, and establish the observability and testing practices that keep systems operating at high reliability. Accountable for platform major incident outcomes and learning. · Lead Strategic Infrastructure Initiatives: Champion initiatives platform wide impact: multi-cloud approach, cost optimisation, security improvements, compliance initiatives. You'll communicate progress, manage risk, and ensure successful execution. · Mentor & Develop Leadership: Coach staff on leadership, help them develop EQ and communication skills, and prepare them for potential Director roles. Job Requirement: · 12+ years of engineering experience with 5+ years in architecture leadership roles: You've built and led platform and engineering teams of 20+. You've made strategic decisions with org-wide impact and seen them through to completion. · Deep technical expertise in distributed systems and infrastructure: While leadership is your primary focus, you maintain technical understanding of architecture, cloud infrastructure, AI & Automation and systems design. You can participate credibly in technical discussions and make informed decisions. · Proven track record hiring and developing talent: You've built teams from scratch, developed staff into leadership roles, and created cultures where people do their best work. · Experience managing budgets: You've owned P&Ls, made resource allocation decisions, and optimised spending. You understand how to balance technical ideals with business constraints. · Strategic thinking and business acumen: You connect technical strategy to business outcomes. You understand how infrastructure decisions impact product roadmap, revenue, and customer success. · Excellent communication across all levels: You can explain technical complexity to non-technical stakeholders, write clear strategic documents, facilitate alignment across teams, and present to Senior leaders. · Strong presence and leadership credibility: Your teams trust you, peers respect your judgment, and leaders view you as a partner. Nice-to-Have · Experience building AI and automation enabled capabilities across an engineering workforce, including improving developer productivity, reducing operational toil, and embedding intelligent automation into engineering and operational workflows · Background in a high-scale tech company or services business (2M+ daily active users, 100+ managed clients or equivalent) · Experience with multi-regional or multi-cloud infrastructure at enterprise scale · Exposure to security, compliance, and risk management · Public speaking or conference presentation experience · Previous Director or Senior Manager role at a comparable organization · Experience with M&A integration or organisational restructuring #L1APAC Workplace type: Hybrid Working About NTT DATA NTT DATA is a $30+ billion business and technology services leader, serving 75% of the Fortune Global 100.
