DIRECTOR OF PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT
The Director of Portfolio Management will be responsible for establishing and leading the enterprise program management office (EPMO) function, ultimately managing and governing the enterprise critical goals portfolio to help drive projects to success. The position leads & oversees the portfolio with the program & project management methodologies, standards, and tools necessary for consistent planning, executing, and reporting. The Director will work closely with senior leaders, subject matter experts, and a team of program and project managers to promote project excellence & an execution-oriented culture. The ideal candidate brings a blend of strategic thinking, organizational leadership, and hands-on program management expertise. This is a high-impact role that will influence enterprise-level decision-making and operational excellence.
Essential Job Responsibilities Include:
EPMO Establishment
- Establish & launch the Enterprise Program Management Office, including the operating model, playbooks, governance framework, and success metrics
- Build and lead a high-performing team of program and project managers to support enterprise initiatives
- Establish and implement standardized project and program management methodologies, tools, templates, and best practices across the organization
- Monitor trends and bring in best practices related to portfolio management and change adoption
Enterprise Portfolio & Program Management
- Drive the planning, execution, and delivery of enterprise-wide strategic programs and initiatives
- Oversee the enterprise project portfolio to ensure appropriate resourcing and risk management
- Monitor program performance, resolve issues, and communicate status and outcomes to senior leadership
- Work cross-functionally with executive sponsors, department leaders, and subject matter experts to ensure successful initiative execution
Governance and Reporting
- Establish governance models to ensure transparency, accountability, and decision-making consistency across initiatives
- Develop executive dashboards, KPIs, and reporting mechanisms to provide visibility into portfolio health, project performance, and resource utilization
- Conduct regular reviews and health checks of ongoing initiatives and escalate risks or issues as appropriate
Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on strategic initiative planning, prioritization, and performance
- Lead stakeholder engagement and communication strategies to ensure organizational alignment and adoption of EPMO processes
- Champion a culture of execution and change readiness across the enterprise
Required Skills / Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 10+ years of experience in project, program, or portfolio management
- 5+ years in a leadership role with direct management responsibility
- Experience in building or scaling program or project portfolio office
- Experience in managing enterprise-wide transformation or large-scale change programs
- Strong understanding of project/program management methodologies
- PMP, PgMP, or PfMP certification preferred
- Ability to influence and lead through collaboration and matrixed relationships
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to synthesize complex information for decision-makers
- Ability to articulate, drive, and ensure process standardization and adoption of best practices
