Description
Reporting to the Vice President, Quality and Performance, the Director of Quality Standards & Corporate Quality provides enterprise‑wide leadership for Hamilton Health Sciences’ corporate quality management and accreditation programs. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the Director ensures ongoing accreditation readiness, compliance with Ontario Health and Accreditation standards, and robust, transparent monitoring of organizational quality and patient safety outcomes. The Director leads the development and execution of the annual Quality Improvement Plan (QIP), builds and strengthens organization‑wide quality improvement capabilities, and collaborates with clinical and corporate leaders to drive improvements in performance, efficiency, and value in care delivery. Master’s degree in a related discipline (e.g., Health Administration, Health Policy, Quality, Business, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent). Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership and line management experience in healthcare quality, patient safety, or performance improvement within a complex organization. Expert knowledge of healthcare quality management systems and quality improvement methodologies, including measurement for improvement, performance reporting, governance structures, and execution of improvement initiatives at scale. Demonstrated expertise in accreditation readiness and standards‑based assurance processes, including translating standards into policy, workflows, audit and control mechanisms, and sustained readiness practices. Proven leadership in the development, implementation, and coordination of enterprise‑level quality plans (e.g., annual Quality Improvement Plans), translating strategic priorities into measurable outcomes across multiple programs or sites. Strong ability to interpret, apply, and operationalize external quality standards, regulatory requirements, and reporting obligations, and to coordinate enterprise responses to internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated experience providing enterprise‑level quality assurance to senior leadership and Boards, including accreditation reporting, performance monitoring, standards implementation, and governance oversight in a complex healthcare environment. Advanced analytical capability, with experience collaborating with data and analytics teams to interpret outcomes, identify signals and risks, prioritize action, and communicate performance insights to diverse audiences (Board, executive, clinical, and corporate). Highly developed facilitation, coaching, and adult learning skills, with the ability to build quality improvement capability and support the spread and sustainability of improvements across an organization. Exceptional relationship‑building and influencing skills; demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, clinical leaders, and corporate partners, and to lead without formal authority. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, concise, and executive‑level reports and governance materials. Demonstrated commitment to equity, anti‑racism, and inclusive leadership, with the ability to embed equity considerations into measurement, planning, quality improvement, engagement, and workforce practices. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and common quality improvement tools; comfort with data visualization and statistical or quality methods as appropriate to the role.
