Description Job Summary: The Director of Relationship Management will be expected to lead a team of Relationship Managers in establishing and nurturing strong relationships with clients, advisors, and other stakeholders. A deep understanding of retirement plans, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a proven track record of effectively managing client relationships within the retirement plan industry is required. Essential Duties: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, acting as the primary point of contact for all escalated matters related to retirement plan services and solutions. Ensure clients thoroughly understand their retirement plan goals, objectives, and requirements by providing training, written standard operating procedures, and best practices. Provide insights and recommendations to align Compass services with client needs. Utilize a consultative approach to offer expert advice and solutions, guiding clients in making informed decisions that optimize their retirement plan offerings and ensure ongoing compliance. Develop, lead, and guidelines and templates for annual plan reviews, including fiduciary reviews to ensure plans remain competitive, compliant, and aligned with clients’ evolving needs. Act as the escalation point for addressing client concerns and issues, collaborating with internal teams to provide timely and effective resolutions. Provide templates for clients that include insight and education into industry best practices, regulatory updates, and trends, fostering their understanding of retirement plan dynamics. Collaborate with internal teams including sales, onboarding, billing, compliance, and operations to ensure seamless service delivery and exceptional client experiences. Establish and monitor key performance metrics related to client satisfaction, retention, and revenue growth. Take proactive measures to achieve and exceed targets. Remain current on all relevant retirement plan regulations, including ERISA, IRS, DOL, SEC, and Secure 2.0 guidelines, and ensure Compass is consistently in compliance with clients’ plans. Develop and maintain internal policies and procedures that align with current retirement plan regulations and best practices, fostering a culture of compliance throughout the organization. Collaborate with vendors and plan sponsors to ensure activities align and are in compliance with requirements and contractual agreements. Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management detailing the status of retirement plan compliance initiatives, key metrics, and any emerging compliance issues. Collaborate with senior management to formulate long-term strategies that enhance retirement plan compliance and align with the organization’s goals. Utilize data analysis tools to monitor activities and identify trends or anomalies that might indicate non-compliance. Take proactive measures to address issues as they arise. Manage a team of Relationship Managers and Team Leaders to ensure annual plan testing and compliance, including annual performance reviews and performance improvement plans when necessary. Collaborate with the Partner, Director of Compliance, and others to ensure changes to best practices and other initiatives are being met. Other tasks as requested. Requirements Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or related field with at least 10 years of progressive related experience in retirement plan compliance. Experience managing and training staff effectively Strong verbal and written communication skills using clear and grammatically correct language The ability to problem solve, be pro-active, and demonstrate initiative Robust time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task required Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of retirement plans and record-keeping platforms Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment Superb attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines Experience using FTW, Pension Pro, Excel, and other retirement plan verification and calculation software platforms is required.
