The Director, Research Finance and Compliance provides strategic and operational leadership for the financial management, regulatory compliance, and long-term sustainability of SLUHN Clinical Trials and Research programs within the Clinical Trials and Research department.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Requires sitting for up to seven hours per day, 5 hours at a time. Standing for up to 4 hour per day, 3 hours at a time. Requires frequent fingering, handling and twisting and turning. Occasionally requires lifting, carrying and pushing and pulling objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Occasionally requires reaching above shoulder level. Must have the ability to hear as it relates to normal conversation, seeing as it relates to general vision.
EDUCATION:
Master’s degree required (MBA highly preferred) in Finance, accounting, Business administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required with 7+ years of direct experience in research finance, grants management, or compliance in an academic medical center, hospital network, or research institution required; will accept a bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of direct experience as outlined above. Research or compliance related certification highly preferred (CHRC, CCEP, ACRP, SoCRA).
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams; Epic EHR; Workday; internet functions required. Proficient in applicable research policies and regulations including The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) billing compliance, CMS National Coverage Determination (NCD) 310.1, as well as expertise in coverage analysis, complex study budget development and negotiation, business review of clinical trial agreements and associated payment terms, and clinical research revenue cycle management required. Knowledge of Federal research funding regulations, such as 2 CFR Part 200 (formerly OMB A-133), NIH & NSF Grant Compliance, as well as institutional compliance programs. Knowledge of FDA regulations for clinical trials including 21 CFR Part 312, 21 CFR Part 812, 21 CFR Part 50 & 56 and Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Fair Market Value (FMV) standards.
