Overview:
The Director of Security Architecture is a senior leader within the Information Security program, responsible for defining, governing, and advancing the security architecture framework that safeguards Patelco’s technology environment, data and members’ trust. Operating within the second line of defense (2LOD), this role provides oversight, challenge and strategic direction to ensure that security principles are consistently embedded across enterprise technology initiatives.
This leader will oversee the Security Architecture team, partner closely with Security Engineering (first line of defense), and engage with IT, Cloud, DevOps, Enterprise Architecture and other technology teams to influence design decisions and ensure alignment with security standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mature the Security Architecture function, building a high-performing team that establishes and enforces architectural security standards, patterns and principles, driving secure-by-design principles across the enterprise.
  • Define, evolve and maintain enterprise security reference architectures and design patterns.
  • Provide independent oversight, credible challenge and guidance for technology solutions, cloud initiatives, vendor integrations and new products, technologies and services to ensure they align with security standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Technology teams (including Security Engineering & Operations, IT & Cloud Ops and Development teams) to embed security into pipelines, platforms and infrastructure.
  • Provide subject matter expertise across the security technology stack including endpoint security, perimeter & network security, threat and vulnerability management, cloud security, security intelligence, identity & privileged access management, application security, etc.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to ensure security is seamlessly integrated into enterprise design principles and long-term technology roadmaps.
  • Advise leadership on emerging risks, technologies and regulatory expectations.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business and technology leaders, translating complex security risks into clear and actionable recommendations.
  • Stay ahead of emerging threats and technology trends, aligning the security program with evolving regulations and industry best-practices.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by Security Leadership

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Security, or a related technical discipline.
  • 12+ years of experience in information security, with a focus on security architecture and/or engineering
  • 5+ years of direct people management experience including managing performance, coaching and developing teams.
  • Deep expertise in cloud, network, identity and application security domains
  • Strong knowledge of security frameworks (NIST CSF, ISO 27001, Zero Trust, etc.)
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and partner with engineering and technology teams
  • Financial services or highly regulated industry experience is a plus
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

Target Base Pay:
$188,673 per year
