The Director of Solution & Application Architecture is a key technology leader responsible for defining and governing the enterprise application architecture that supports scalable, secure, and high-performing business solutions. This leader will establish architectural standards, guide major program designs, modernize legacy systems, and ensure cohesive integration across the application portfolio. Partnering with Engineering, Product, Data, Security, and Infrastructure, the Director ensures that application and solution architectures align with strategic priorities, optimize total cost of ownership, and accelerate delivery while reducing risk. Responsibilities Architecture Strategy & Standards Develop the enterprise application architecture blueprint aligned to business strategy Define governing principles, patterns, reference architectures, and technology standards for business applications. Create modernization strategies for core systems (e.g., ERP, HRIS, CRM, operations platforms) to ensure scalability, performance, and cost efficiency. Evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., cloud-native services, low-code platforms, API management, event-driven architecture). Solution Architecture Leadership Lead end‑to‑end solution design for major initiatives, ensuring secure, scalable, and maintainable architectures. Oversee the architectural review process; chair or co-chair the Solution Architecture Review Board. Collaborate with Product and Engineering to translate business objectives into coherent architectural roadmaps. Guide teams in domain-driven design, integration patterns, data flow, and application interoperability. Portfolio Integration & Application Lifecycle Ensure consistent integration patterns across applications (APIs, microservices, event streams, iPaaS). Oversee application rationalization, lifecycle planning, and TCO management across the environment. Provide architectural oversight of vendor platforms and SaaS applications, including assessment, selection, and configuration governance. Governance, Security & Compliance Partner with InfoSec to embed security-by-design, identity strategy, and threat modeling into all solution architectures. Ensure compliance with regulatory, privacy, and risk standards. Establish audit-ready documentation and architecture traceability. Collaboration & Leadership Manage, mentor, and develop solution architects, domain architects, and technical leads across application portfolios. Build strong relationships with business leaders, translating needs into technical strategies and actionable plans. Foster a culture of architectural excellence, reusable components, and continuous improvement. Qualifications Required 10–15+ years in enterprise applications, architecture, or engineering; 5+ years in an architecture leadership role. Deep experience designing complex application ecosystems across ERP, HR, CRM, customer platforms, and cloud SaaS. Strong domain expertise in integration approaches (API-led, event-driven, microservices, queues, iPaaS). Practical experience with major cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), IaC concepts, observability tools, and DevSecOps practices. Proven ability to simplify complexity, influence cross-functional teams, and guide decision-making for senior stakeholders. Preferred Experience with the Microsoft ecosystem (Azure, Power Platform, Logic Apps, Dynamics, etc.). Exposure to TOGAF, SAFe, or similar frameworks (certifications optional). Background in application modernization or cloud migration initiatives. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master’s or MBA a plus.
