Alberta Innovates is looking to hire a Director, Talent and Program Development who will play an integral role in the creation of talent strategies in alignment to the organization’s strategic direction. As a member of People & Cultures leadership team, the Director will champion talent development, employee experience initiatives, and our people focused programs. This role will play a critical part in shaping our workforce strategy, nurturing high-potential employees, and driving organizational growth.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or related field; preference will be given to someone with master’s degree in human resources management, with focus on Organizational Development
  • Minimum 7 years of both generalist and specialist Human Resources experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience at a senior management level in Human Resources.
  • Certified Practitioner in Human Resources (CPHR) designation
  • Extensive experience in HR leadership roles, with a focus on employee experience, inclusion and belonging, performance management, succession planning, and leadership development.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful employee facing programs.
  • Development focused perspective, keeping up with industry trends and best practices in talent development.
  • Ideally (but not required), the candidate should also have:


    • Previous experience working as part of an organization involved in research and innovation activities

    • Experience working in complex stakeholder management environments and managing relationships with external business partners
    • Experience leading organizational change and transformational change initiatives
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is considered an asset
    Responsibilities
    • Identify, design, develop and implement a leadership development program in alignment with organizational strategy.
    • Design and manage talent assessment, succession planning, and high-potential programs.
    • Collaborate with HR and business leaders to align talent strategies with organizational goals.
    • Oversee mentorship, coaching, and employee development initiatives.
    • Offer coaching and guidance to business leaders.
    • Align people practices and processes with the organization’s strategic direction.
    • Mentor leaders in building high-performing teams.
    • Lead the performance management and recognition and rewards programs, evaluate their effectiveness, and identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Provide coaching and guidance to organizational leaders on building effective and resilient teams.
    • Develop and implement an inclusion and belonging strategy and supporting initiatives within the business.
    • Evaluate program effectiveness using data and feedback.
