Position Summary HB is seeking a Director of Tax Planning & Technology to lead the firm’s individual income tax advisory and planning technology enablement efforts. This role is responsible for equipping and supporting advisors with sophisticated, scalable tools and expertise to deliver tax-aware, high-impact tax planning solutions for high and ultra-high-net-worth clients. This position represents a unique opportunity in the tax industry, marrying deep tax planning expertise with the opportunity to evaluate, design and deploy modern tax planning technologies. The role will be a key collaborator with and report to HB Wealth’s Director of Advanced Tax Planning and Family Office Services . Job Responsibilities Internal Leadership & Advisory Serve as the firm’s primary subject matter expert on array of private client income tax planning topics. Provide technical leadership on multi-year client tax projections and tax return analysis. Coach and support advisors in identifying, framing, and implementing tax-aware planning opportunities. Develop and maintain tax planning publications, methodologies and best practices. Monitor and report on legislative, regulatory, and technical developments and their implications. Technology & Infrastructure Champion existing technologies and lead evaluation, implementation, and ongoing optimization of tax analysis and modeling technologies. Partner with advisory, operations, compliance, and technology to integrate tools into advisor workflows. Develop and maintain a centralized knowledge base and planning toolkit that enhances advisor efficiency. Client-Facing & Complex Case Support Provide advanced consultation on complex client situations. Collaborate with advisors on scenario analysis, recommendation development, and client deliverables. Participate in advisor, client and prospective client meetings when advanced tax planning is needed. External Collaboration & Thought Leadership Lead strategic coordination with external tax professionals and other specialists. Develop and maintain a vetted network of external tax professionals aligned with complex client needs. Support marketing and thought leadership initiatives through articles, whitepapers, webinars, etc. Represent the firm in professional forums related to taxation and advisory technology. Requirements Bachelor’s degree required; accounting, finance, economics, or related field preferred. 7+ years of experience in tax advisory, family office, RIA, or public accounting. CPA, JD, LLM, or other advanced professional credentials required. Deep expertise in individual, fiduciary and closely held business income taxation. Significant experience advising high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families. Experience working with or evaluating wealth planning and tax modeling technologies. Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills. Commitment to the highest standards of integrity and confidentiality. Ability to successfully pass criminal background / credit check required.
