Job Description Work with senior-level editorial teams to set editorial and ethical guidelines Review scripts, articles and social posts for accuracy, fairness, transparency and adequate sourcing and attribution Consult with editorial leaders on difficult or complex publishing decisions with standards implications Consult with commercial leaders to ensure that sponsored content and brand marketing endeavors align with the organization’s editorial values and guidelines Help uphold overall NBCU News Group-wide standards policies and guidelines Provide editorial guidance to journalists on NBCUniversal's news standards Ensure that new and current employees are continually educated on News Group standards & practice Provide real-time guidance on breaking news stories to ensure coverage is accurate and ethical Work closely with journalists, editors, producers, and reporters to implement best practices in storytelling, sourcing, fact-checking and more Advise on editorial decisions during breaking news and crisis situations to minimize risk Manage corrections, retractions, and responses to complaints or challenges to published content Help monitor and address misinformation or disinformation threats impacting the news organization Qualifications/Requirements: Undergraduate degree in Journalism, Communications, or equivalent work experience. 3 to 5 years in the following areas: Experience as a News Director or Senior News leader, or similar leadership role at a broadcast station in major market(s). Must have exceptional news and editorial judgment Fluent in English/Spanish. Able to work a flexible schedule and shifts. Must be 18 years or older Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States Position can be performed either In-person at job site, or Remote Must be willing to travel as needed or as job requires Qualifications Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with all levels of talent and leadership Proven ability to remain calm in high pressure environment Highly collaborative in tone and approach Proven ability to multi-task and manage a wide array of responsibilities in a deadline driven environment Exceptional business ethics demonstrated professionalism and sound judgment. Prior experience in investigative journalism a plus Familiarity with (or knowledge of) digital journalism and social media standards and practices Ability to handle confidential material with utmost discretion. Ability to multi-task in a dynamic, content driven, technology intensive environment and meet deadlines.
