As Director of Volunteer Services, you will be responsible for overseeing the Cleveland Clinic Volunteer Services Department under the direction of the Division Administrator. In this role, you will manage daily operations to support quality patient care and achieve the business objectives of Cleveland Clinic, provide direct supervision of volunteers and volunteer staff, develop and maintain departmental policies and procedures, collaborate with internal departments and external vendors, prepare statistical reports, and manages the department’s budget and financial planning. This position provides a valuable opportunity to use your skills and experience to strengthen community connections while working alongside fellow caregivers to enhance patient care standards.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the enterprise process and standards for volunteer onboarding and application process, including online applications across enterprise.
  • Support department coordinators in developing and expanding volunteer programs at Cleveland Clinic Family Health Centers.
  • Evaluate performance and values of services provided by volunteers and department staff.
  • Investigate and pursue methods of quality assurance with an emphasis on patient satisfaction.
  • Provide strong administrative leadership, promote a team-oriented and positive work environment for the Volunteer Services Department.
  • Create, revise and enforce effective departmental policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and day-to-day supervision of department staff, encourage, support creativity, and productivity of department coordinators, and secretaries.
  • Prepare annual year-end report of departmental expenditures and assume responsibility for the department’s fiscal planning and budget.
  • Promote the educational commitment of Cleveland Clinic by assisting department coordinators in researching, developing and implementing quality volunteer experiences for area college students who are interested in health-related careers.
  • Assist department coordinators in developing a quality Junior Ambassador Program for area high school students and encourage the facilitation and placement of students and professionals in the Division of Research.
  • Schedule and participate in periodic regional and national meetings with Directors and other personnel to promote the CC/CCHS partnership.
  • Evaluate programs’ compliance with CC standards.
  • Serves on CC standing committees and newly formed committees, as requested.
  • Establish guidelines to promote and improve retention of active volunteers and facilitate growth and expansion to continue to meet the needs of volunteer participation at CC.
  • Review position descriptions annually to determine optimal volunteer service to CC.
