Job Summary:   The DIRTcar Summer Nationals PR Internship offers an exciting and unique opportunity! Along with other team members, this intern will go on the road to follow all series events for both the DIRTcar Summer Nationals and the DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals. The internship will begin Monday, June 1 at the World Racing Group corporate office in Concord, NC. Here, the intern will assist with a variety of Public Relations (PR) tasks to prepare for travel across ten Central and Midwest states for the entirety of the series concluding in mid-July.   Essential Job Functions: * Develop, write and distribute pre-event promotional materials and/or features on an on-going basis. * Promote assigned series to local, regional and national media; proactively contact local, regional and national media to ensure coverage. * Closely monitor assigned race/event to provide a thorough and engaging recap afterwards. * Maintain current statistics on assigned series. * Use DIRTcar Summer Nationals social media channels to promote events and increase attendance. * Conduct post-race and/or other interviews with notable participants. * Liaise with participants, teams and owners; coordinate media access to participants. * Update points, photos, video and other content on assigned website(s); ensure content is current and accurate. * Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications & Skills: * The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, accountable, and energetic. * Active enrollment at an accredited college or university. * Students pursuing a course of study in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, English, or a related field are encouraged to apply. * Candidates entering their junior or senior year of study will receive strong consideration; however, all qualified applicants will be considered. * Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills. * High comfort level with internet usage; experience with web content management is preferred. * Knowledge of and/or interest in grassroots motorsports is highly preferred. Additional Requirements: * Travel is required for this role; candidate must be comfortable with overnight travel throughout several U.S. states, leaving from and returning to the Concord, NC office base. Date of departure is June 1 with a July 14 date of return. * This position is expected to work hours in accordance with business needs based on the DIRTcar Summer Nationals and the DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals event schedules. * Physical Demands: This position requires frequent walking and standing with occasional sitting, climbing, bending, stretching, kneeling and crawling. The use of hands to grasp and feel frequently; the occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds and use of close vision. This position is primarily outdoors and exposure to the elements should be expected. * Safety Concerns: When indoors, the safety concerns are those of a traditional office environment. When at an event, the safety concerns include exposure to loud noises, dust, fumes and other irritants as well as exposure to outdoor elements, potential exposure to mechanical equipment and vehicles moving at varied rates of speed. This position is expected to always practice preventative safety measures.
