ABOUT US:

Corrections Victoria is responsible for the direction, management and operation of Victoria’s corrections system, which incorporates prisons and Community Correctional Services. As a service agency within the Department of Justice and Community Safety, Corrections Victoria develops and implements policies, programs and services that ensure the safe and secure containment of prisoners, and that seek to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
Located at Castlemaine, Loddon Prison is a 477-bed medium security prison for sentenced male prisoners. Adjacent to Loddon Prison is Middleton, a 236-bed restricted minimum-security prison for sentenced male prisoners. The focus of both prisons is rehabilitation via individual case management, employment, education, training and also the provision of programs and targeted interventions to address offending behaviour and promote the development of prosocial behaviour. Both prisons provide contemporary and quality correctional services that prepare prisoners for transition and reintegration.
