CASUAL DISABILITY SUPPORT WORKER – GROUP ACTIVITIES & LIFE SKILLS

Relief Wakes is a registered NDIS provider (provider number 4053361903) preparing participant-choice group activities in Ipswich and surrounding areas. We are seeking a respectful, organised and engaging casual support worker who can help participants build confidence, independence, everyday skills and community connections in a safe small-group setting.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will help facilitate flexible activity sessions where each participant can choose what is meaningful to them. Activities may include:

• cooking, meal preparation and everyday living skills
• board games, creative activities and social connection
• gentle exercise, outdoor activities and supported cycling
• community access and practical independence-building activities
• quiet, sensory-friendly or relaxation choices

Participants may choose to join, observe, change activities, take a break or decline. The role is to support choice and coach participants to do as much as possible for themselves—not to take over.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare safe activity stations, equipment and materials before each session.
• Welcome participants and explain choices in accessible ways.
• Follow each participant’s support plan, communication needs, risk controls and authorised support arrangements.
• Facilitate activities at an appropriate pace while maintaining dignity, privacy, choice and control.
• Apply food-safety, allergy and cross-contamination controls when supporting cooking activities.
• Support outdoor or community activities only within approved plans, staffing arrangements and risk controls.
• Maintain clear exits, safe walkways, cleaning and infection-control practices.
• Complete attendance records, timely case notes and outcome observations.
• Promptly report incidents, near misses, hazards, safeguarding concerns and changes in participant needs.
• Work cooperatively with the program lead and other support workers.
• Follow Relief Wakes policies and lawful behaviour-support arrangements. No unauthorised restrictive practices are permitted.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• legal right to work in Australia
• current NDIS Worker Screening clearance, or capacity to obtain one, with verification required before participant-facing duties
• current First Aid and CPR certificates, or capacity to obtain them before participant-facing duties
• respectful communication and reliable, objective record keeping
• experience supporting people with disability, group activities, life skills, community participation or a closely related setting
• ability to work calmly in a shared multi-activity environment
• smartphone suitable for secure rostering and work records
• current Australian driver licence where community outings or driving form part of an allocated shift

Oak Disability is currently seeking dedicated Disability Domestic Assistants to support NDIS participants within their homes across Brisbane and surrounding suburbs.

About the Role

As a Disability Domestic Assistant, you will support NDIS participants by assisting them to maintain a clean, comfortable, and organised home environment that promotes wellbeing, independence, and quality of life.

This is a domestic assistance and housekeeping role focused on supporting participants with day-to-day household tasks within their homes.

• General household cleaning including vacuuming, mopping, dusting, tidying, and surface sanitisation
• Cleaning kitchens, bathrooms, toilets, and other household areas
• Laundry duties including washing, folding, ironing, and changing bed linen
• Meal preparation and basic cooking assistance
• Household organisation and decluttering
• Emptying bins and waste disposal
• Assisting participants with online grocery or household shopping
• Participating in spring cleans or larger decluttering projects when required

Please note:

This is not a Support Worker role. The position does not involve personal care, medication administration, hygiene assistance, or community access supports.

Requirements

• Valid Driver’s Licence
• Reliable and registered vehicle
• Smartphone for rostering and communication
• Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
• Full working rights in Australia
• Previous cleaning, domestic assistance, aged care, disability support, or community care experience is highly regarded but not essential
