QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience in mentoring or coaching individuals, preferably within an employment or educational context.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting purposes.
  • Strong command of English, both written and verbal, with excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

JOJOB PURPOSE

§ To develop and manage ILA’s employment support programme.
§ To inspire Disabled People including people with mental health issues and/or long-term health conditions and learning disabilities to secure employment.
§ To provide person centred advice and guidance to Disabled People, whilst building positive relationships with local employers to enable progression into suitable employment.
§ To provide holistic support to Disabled People who may experience many challenges in their lives as well as barriers to the employment, signposting to other agencies as required.
§ Recruit, train and manage a team of peer support volunteers, playing an important role in helping people sustain employment.
§ The focus is more than helping people secure jobs. Along with volunteers and partner agencies, collaboratively you will help each individual sustain their employment.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  1. Engage a caseload of Disabled People and establish trusting, supportive relationships so they can achieve their employment goals.
  2. Assess people’s employment support needs and together create a plan so individuals achieve their desired outcomes.
  3. Develop and deliver a range of practical individual and group services to meet people’s needs including career guidance, job searching, CV preparation, interview skills, individual coping techniques or work coaching.
  4. Engaging clients to identify work skills, goals, and aspirations, and developing tailored job search plans.
  5. Develop relationships with employers based on individual work preferences
  6. Assisting with job search, CV creation, applications, interviews, and career development, including targeted employer interactions.
    Creating In-Work Support Plans to address work-related needs, including benefits and health-related advice for employment sustainability.
  7. Curating job opportunities through customised searches and employer liaison to secure both advertised and hidden job placements.
  8. Develop a range of volunteering roles with role descriptions, training packages and information packs.
  9. Recruit, train and support peer support volunteers, social work students, interns and placement students from further and higher education.
  10. Coordinate individual support and mentoring delivered by volunteers providing ongoing support for people on their journey to employment and to sustain the placement.
  11. Provide ongoing, individualised support for the person and their employer.
  12. Facilitate access to expert financial advice on welfare benefits and access to work’ resources.
  13. Attend or organise events to engage employers and showcase the talent and potential of those seeking work.
  14. Provide support and reasonable adjustments if required, to employed clients to support them to stay and progress in work.
  15. Collaborate with community partners to raise awareness of employment and disability and promote access to the service.
  16. Maintain accurate and up to date records of activity and outcomes in line with funding requirements, ensuring the IT database is up to date and paperwork compliant.
  17. Receive regular supervision and training to meet individual, team and organisational needs.
  18. Contribute to the development of a service that is locally responsive and supports diverse and disadvantaged communities.
  19. Comply with and actively promote all ILA’s policies and procedures including Equality and Diversity, safeguarding and data protection.
