Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Disability Financial Underwriter to join our underwriting team. This role is responsible for calculating rates for both renewing and prospective group accounts with moderate to complex risk profiles. The ideal candidate will evaluate financial data, assess risk, and support the organization’s overall pricing and underwriting strategy.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in underwriting, financial analysis, or risk management.
  • Strong understanding of group insurance and risk pool management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access.
  • Prior experience underwriting EOI, Life, Dental, and Vision products.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for improving consumer experiences and contributing to a collaborative work environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in a related discipline.
  • Experience underwriting rates for complex and large group accounts.
  • Exposure to health or claims data analysis.
  • Familiarity with underwriting systems or tools used in group insurance pricing.

    Pay: $38.00 - $50.00 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Calculate and analyze rates for group disability insurance accounts, including both renewals and new business.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports and exhibits to support pricing decisions.
  • Provide strategic consultation on product and risk strategies to internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Deliver accurate expense estimates and perform in-depth financial analysis.
  • Influence departmental strategy by contributing to technical and strategic project components.
  • Handle moderately complex to complex underwriting scenarios with limited supervision.
  • Use sound judgment and latitude in determining approach to assignments and problem resolution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including actuarial, sales, and account management.
  • Support underwriting for ancillary products, including EOI (Evidence of Insurability), Life, Dental, and Vision products.
