Mutual of Omaha is looking for a detail oriented Disability Income Benefit Claims Specialist with strong attention to detail and critical thinking. This role is responsible for the full lifecycle of disability claims, and ensures timely, accurate decisions from initial notification through claim resolution. It combines analytical evaluation, regulatory compliance, and clear communication to deliver an exceptional customer experience. Key duties include benefits eligibility assessment, contract interpretation, fraud awareness, and coordination with medical professionals and employers. The position plays a critical role in customer retention and financial outcomes for Individual Claims.

  • Partners with management to make informed decisions throughout the life of the claim, ensuring actions align with policy provisions and documented procedures.
  • Maintains professional and timely communication with claimants, employers, brokers, sales teams, and medical professionals to support customer satisfaction and claim clarity.
  • Accurately documents all actions and adheres to ERISA, federal/state laws, and internal guidelines to ensure transparency and compliance.
  • Evaluates financial liability and eligibility using salary, contract terms, and supporting documentation to approve or adjust benefits.
