We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Disability Management Coordinator to join our People team in Langley, BC.
Reporting to the Manager, Disability, you will be responsible for reviewing and creating accommodation agreements for team members, ensuring they are supported and engaged in the workplace.
You will be responsible for:
- Monitoring and reviewing existing accommodation agreements to ensure accuracy and update documentation as needed.
- Conducting annual reviews of all accommodation agreements.
- Creating and implementing accommodation agreements that modify job duties, shifts, or hours of work in accordance with the limitations and restrictions.
- Working with internal and external partners, including HR operations, health & safety, claims, store management, and third-party insurance providers to obtain details and to create accommodation agreements based on medical status under applicable provincial human rights legislation.
- Reviewing incoming medical reports and supporting documentation detailing limitations or restrictions, and connecting with medical professionals, care providers, or treatment providers when required.
- Delivering compassionate and clear communication to support team members throughout the accommodation process.
- Liaising with the Return to Work team on current claims and accommodations.
- Assisting in responding to safety-sensitive situations related to medical conditions and mental health.
You have:
- 1-2 years of experience in claims and disability management, including short- and long-term disability and workers’ compensation programs.
- A post-secondary diploma in Disability Management, Human Resources, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, HRIS systems and Claims Management systems.
- Working knowledge of Human Rights legislation, WorkSafeBC, Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, and the Workers Compensation Act in a retail and/or unionized environment is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with medical terminology is considered an asset.
- Experience in conflict resolution, mediation, and negotiation is considered an asset.
