We are seeking a motivated, responsible and flexible employee to join a small team. We are a generous business who looks after employees by paying above award wages. We have multiple participants in Cessnock and Maitland with growing teams. You will be available 7-days per week and be keen to grow your hours, this includes availability for after-school supports and the possibility of overnights. We are a growing business. We are driven to foster a culture of respect and ethical practice that achieves things of substance for people of disabilities and enables staff to have a fulfilling, prosperous career. We want someone who is staunchly reliable, a fair-minded team member and who has the communication skills required to manage relationships with clients and families. The bulk of this role will be providing community access to people with disabilities for 5-6 hour shifts across the Hunter region.
A Support Worker will:
Ensure that care is being delivered at a high quality.
Is happy to gradually build up their hours and regular shifts, starting out with two clients, building trust and rapport so that hours increase as the relationships develop.
Communicate in a polite, prompt and professional manner.
Liaise with other professionals involved in the client’s support and care.
Liaise with and take direction from the family.
Help with client’s capacity building and community participation (i.e holidays, therapy and social groups…)
Continually look for ways to improve the supports being provided.
Have the flexibility to be available for coverage of services if needed.
Assist with personal care tasks (toileting and showering if needed).
Has a reliable car.
Takes the job seriously and wants to genuinely help others
The job is paid at 41.89 per hour plus 92c per km of travel. Our aim is to make your hours, days and role more generally as stable and regular as it can be. Sometimes, albeit rarely, our clients will experience unexpected medical emergencies and may need additional support hours. This needs to shape your understanding of the role and your appreciation of the degree to which people with disabilities rely on their support workers. It is imperative that staff will be flexible in their hours and take one-off and fill-in shifts occasionally in addition to their regular ongoing shifts. This ensures people are supported, new relationships can be formed and everyone in the business has access to shifts that suit their personal circumstances.
