About the role;
Inca Home Services is looking for Disability Support Workers with experience and qualifications in Disability, Behaviour Support or Mental Health Support to join our team. As a Disability Support worker, you will play a vital role in enhancing the lives and well-being of our participants when working in the community, their homes or our SIL homes across the Hunter, Central Coast and Sydney.
Essential Qualifications of the role;
· Certificate III or IV in Disability, Community Services, Youth Work or other relevant fields
· Hold a current NSW Working With Children Check (WWCC)
· Hold a current NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDISWC)
· Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
· National Police check with a minimum of 6 months validity.
· Current NSW Drivers Licence with own Motor Vehicle and Comprehensive Car Insurance
Duties Involved:
· Assisting participants with Daily Living Tasks including Personal Care duties
· Provide In-Home Supports to promote a positive, inclusive, and empowering environment
· Assisting participant to engage in and access the community
· Completing documentation and providing updates in line with organisational policies and procedures
· Providing personalised supports in line with participants goals and skill building targets
· Applying Behaviour Support Plan (BSP) Strategies to assist the participant in all settings
· Utilise redirecting strategies and follow Restrictive Practice Plans (RP) to ensure everyone’s safety
· Engaging participants in meaningful activities and social outings
What we’re looking for:
· Previous experience in working with young people with Disabilities and Complex Behaviours
· Flexibility to work on weekdays and weekends including School Holidays and Public Holidays
· Understanding of and experience with Behaviour Support Plans and highest Restrictive Practices Plans
· Ability to prevent and react quickly to absconding incidents, to ensure the participant is safe.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to liaise with participant and all key stakeholders
· Strong problem-solving and decisive decision-making abilities
· Ability to work independently and part of a larger team of supports
