Responsibilities

THE ROLE

The role of disability support workers will include and is not limited to: Supporting clients with activities of daily living, Assisting with personal care, Providing domestic assistance (house cleaning, washing, tidying up), Assisting with meal preparation, Providing companionship and emotional support, Transporting client to appointments and/or recreational activities (if required)

ESSENTIAL FOR THIS ROLE

  • 3 -5 years of experience in working as a disability support worker within a residential setting or experience in providing outreach support to participants’ rights in Australia
  • A minimum Certificate IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Mental Health/ Disability/ Welfare or Community services.
  • Current National Police Check (within 12 months validity), (or be prepared to obtain)
  • Current First Aid & CPR certification (or be prepared to obtain)
  • A current driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills and interpersonal, combined with a proactive and hands-on attitude
  • Demonstrated experience/knowledge in working with people with disability
  • Be comfortable working independently as well as an active team member
  • NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) Worker Orientation Module Certificate is mandatory prior to commencement: https://www.ndiscommission.gov.au/workers/support-for-workers/training-course
  • Must hold a Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) card
