About the role

This is a role that provides opportunities to work in an environment where you help people to achieve. You will work in the community or support a participant in their home. The nature of support provided is planned according to participants goals and choices. An integral part of this role includes supporting people who require support with positive behaviour strategies, assistance with medication and personal care which may involve manual handling using lifting devices or aids. This includes being flexible to work rostered hours which will include sleepovers, weekends, mornings, evenings and days.

Key responsibilities

Support participants to ensure their safety within the home environment or community.
Comply with Workplace Health and Safety Legislation, applicable Codes of Practice and Industry Standards.
Provide support in accordance with the individual choice of the person you are supporting and in accordance with Individual Support Plans.
Uphold and respect a participants legal and human rights.
Assist people with personal care, meal preparation and medical appointments according to their needs.
Maintain and review documentation relevant to participants.
Maintain privacy and confidentiality in regard to personal data and information received about any person.
Attend staff meetings as directed and complete training in accordance with allocated schedules.

About you

Working with people with disabilities and assist them to develop skills to live as independently as possible.
Ability to communicate effectively using different methods of communication to enhance understanding and learning.
Ability to apply principles of the NDIS Practice Standards and Quality Indicators, Work Health and Safety Act to the workplace.
Ability to assist people with disabilities to make decisions and participate in the planning, implementation and review of individuals support plans.
Minimum Certificate III Disability Work qualification or willingness to gain.
Comply with NDIS Practice Standards, The Disability Services Act and Anuha's Code of Conduct and Policy and Procedures
