Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled male Disability Support Worker with proven experience supporting individuals exhibiting complex and sometimes aggressive behaviours. The ideal candidate will champion a person-centered, and strengths-based approach, prioritizing safety, dignity, and empowerment. You will deliver high-quality supports that foster independence, build trust, and align with best practices in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and NDIS guidelines. Your primary goal is to help participants live fulfilling, safe, and inclusive lives, while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary support team.

Key Responsibilities1. Person-Centered Support

• Deliver tailored day-to-day support grounded in strengths-based, trauma-informed, and recovery-focused approaches that promote choice, autonomy, and dignity.

2. Behaviour Support & Management

• Collaborate with behaviour support practitioners to implement and monitor Functional Behaviour Assessments (FBAs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) using evidence-based strategies.

• Apply PBS strategies: teach alternative skills, modify environments, reinforce positive behaviours, and address triggers proactively.

• Uphold NDIS standards regarding restrictive practices, ensuring they are only used as a last resort, in the least restrictive way, and fully documented.

3. Safety & Incident Management

• Stay alert to early indicators of escalating behaviours; implement de-escalation techniques and report concerns promptly.

• Comply with incident management protocols, including safety plans, reporting, and documentation as per NDIS requirements.

4. Daily Living Support & Skill Development

• Assist participants with personal care, mobility, activities of daily living (ADLs), and safe use of assistive technologies.

• Facilitate development of life skills such as meal preparation, financial management, community navigation, and social participation.

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of participant progress, behavioural incidents, and intervention outcomes to support transparency and continuity of care

Requirements:

• Certificate III or IV in Disability Support (or equivalent) – required
• A compassionate, respectful, and reliable approach
• Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
• NDIS Worker Screening Check & Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transport
• *** Must be male support worker
• Experience with behaviour managment is highly desired
