Hours: Weekdays

Pay: SCHADS Award rates, depending on experience and qualifications

About the Role

We are looking for a patient, encouraging and reliable Support Worker to support a 20-year-old female to develop greater independence and confidence in her everyday life. The focus of this role is skill development, working alongside her to learn and practise practical independent living skills rather than simply doing tasks for her.

Key Responsibilities

You will support her to gradually develop skills such as:

- Planning and preparing simple meals

- Planning meals and creating shopping lists

- Grocery shopping and learning to make appropriate purchases

- Cleaning and maintaining her living environment

- Laundry, folding and organising clothes

- Keeping her bedroom and personal spaces organised

- Developing personal household routines

- Learning basic budgeting and managing everyday expenses

- Developing routines, planning and time-management skills

- Building confidence with everyday household responsibilities

- Encouraging problem-solving and decision-making

- Supporting participation in the community and developing confidence outside the home where appropriateFull job description

WE'RE HIRING FEMALE DISABILITY SUPPORT WORKERS IN MOUNT GRAVATT

We are looking for a caring, reliable, and motivated Female Disability Support Worker to join our team on a casual basis with possibility of being promoted to part-time. This is a rewarding opportunity to support NDIS participants in achieving their goals, building independence, and enjoying meaningful participation in their community.

Participant Details

  • Client is non-verbal and uses ASL and eye gaze to communicate. Has problems with balance.
  • Needs support in reaching her goal which is to walk unassisted, eat unassistand and communicate better.
  • Would benefit most from a support worker who listens, who is attentive to cues (crying as indication for pain or unmet needs, differences of tones happy=higher tones)

Schedule

  • Must be amenable to split shift schedule (6am to 8am in the morning, 4pm to 6pm in the afternoon)
  • The Provider is willing to arrange another shift from another participant in between.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card)
  • Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificates
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Reliable vehicle with comprehensive car insurance and current registration
  • Certificate or Diploma related to disability support, individual support, community services, or a similar field (preferred but not essential)

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Supporting participants with daily living activities and individual goals
  • Assisting with community access, appointments, and social activities
  • Encouraging independence, choice, and confidence
  • Building positive and respectful relationships with participants
  • Completing progress notes and following participant support plans
