Job Duties Include but are not limited to:
- Provide direct care and support to clients with physical, intellectual, and/or psychosocial disabilities.
- Assist with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and grooming.
- Support with domestic duties including meal preparation, cleaning, and shopping.
- Accompany clients to appointments, recreational activities, and community outings.
- Encourage and facilitate the development of life skills and independence.
- Follow individualized care plans and behaviour support strategies.
- Accurately document daily progress, incidents, and other required records.
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment at all times.
- Adhere to relevant policies, procedures, and NDIS Practice Standards (if applicable).
- An understanding of the needs and barriers faced by individuals with various abilities.
- Command of English language with ability to communicate effectively and complete daily documentation.
- Ability to understand and follow health care plans, personal protocols, schedules, and activities.
- Ability to follow policies and procedures, including health and safety policies.
- An understanding of the difference between creating independence vs. creating dependence
- Competence to safely accompany/transport individuals to appointments and activities in the community.
- Knowledge and experience with community resources, integration, and teaching life skills
- The physical ability to perform all the duties required of the position.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A minimum of 1 years of full-time experience supporting individuals with complex needs (including developmental and intellectual disabilities as well as complex mental health diagnoses.)
- Must have a College diploma or University degree in a relevant discipline (Child and Youth Care/Social Work/Psychology/Nursing or equivalent discipline)
- Previous knowledge and experience implementing principles of ABA
- Competent with collecting and analyzing data
- Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check required: VSC accepted if within the last 6 months
- Child Intervention Check required: IRC accepted if within the last 6 months
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
- A valid AB driver’s license (minimum class 5), proof of appropriate insurance third-party liability of $2 million, a Drivers Abstract and Insurance Claim letter that reflects safe driving habits.
- Restraint training (CPI, TCI or NVCI) an asset
- Trauma Informed Care an asset
- Suicide Prevention and Awareness Training an asset
- Food Safety Certification an asset
- Intermediate level computer skills using MS Office, Internet and email
- Extensive experience in social skills curriculum and family dynamics, including child abuse and family violence
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and experience providing counseling referrals to appropriate resource agencies within and outside the District
- Ability to knowledgeably implement a wide range of therapeutic interventions
- Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions
Bridgeway Connection Services offers a competitive salary range from $20.16 to $24.25 per hour based on experience and education as well as a comprehensive benefits package, as per the General Employment Conditions. Hours of work are 40 hrs/week.
