Full job description

Disability Support Worker – QERA (pronounced Care-rah)

Location: Ipswich / Western Brisbane and surrounding areas

Employment Type: Casual

Award: SCHADS Award – classification based on experience and qualifications

About QERA

QERA is a growing disability support provider committed to raising the standard of what quality, person-centred support should look and feel like.

We provide individualised, respectful support that focuses on genuine relationships, choice, independence and quality of life. As we continue to grow, we're looking for Disability Support Workers who share that approach and want to be part of building something meaningful.

About the Role

As a Disability Support Worker with QERA, you will provide person-centred support to NDIS participants in their homes and communities.

Depending on the needs of the participant, your shifts may include:

  • Assistance with personal care and daily living
  • Community access and social participation
  • Supporting independence and development of everyday living skills
  • Meal preparation and household activities
  • Transport and support to appointments, activities and community events
  • Medication assistance within your training and scope
  • Following participant support plans, risk assessments and health-related plans
  • Supporting participants with mobility and manual handling where required
  • Providing high-intensity personal care where appropriately trained and assessed
  • Completing accurate shift notes and required documentation
  • Reporting incidents, hazards, concerns and changes in participant wellbeing
  • Working collaboratively with participants, families, QERA and other members of the participant's support team

What We're Looking For

We're looking for professional people who are reliable, respectful and genuinely comfortable working alongside people with disability.

You will ideally have:

  • Current NDIS Worker Screening clearance
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates
  • Current Australian driver's licence
  • Reliable, insured vehicle
  • Working with Children Check/Blue Card where required
  • The ability to use a mobile phone or computer for shift documentation and communication
  • Availability for a range of shifts, which may include mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends
  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or a related qualification, or relevant disability support experience

Experience with complex or high-intensity supports is highly regarded, but we also value the right attitude, reliability and willingness to learn.

What Matters to Us

Skills can be developed. Character matters.

We value support workers who:

  • Treat participants with dignity and respect
  • Listen rather than assume
  • Understand professional boundaries
  • Turn up when they say they will
  • Communicate when something isn't right
  • Respect each person's home, choices, culture and individual way of doing things
  • Understand that good disability support isn't about doing everything for someone — it's about supporting them to live their life their way

Why Join QERA?

QERA is still growing, which means we're looking for people who want to grow with us.

We offer:

  • SCHADS Award wages and applicable penalty rates and allowances
  • Superannuation
  • Mentoring/Career Progression
  • Supportive and accessible management
  • Participant-specific training where required
  • Opportunities to develop skills in complex and high-intensity support
  • A growing organisation where good workers are noticed and valued
  • A strong focus on matching the right support worker with the right participant

Most importantly, we want QERA to be somewhere both participants and staff feel heard, respected and supported.

Yep — I’d make the QERA application portal the clear call to action rather than asking them to apply through Indeed.
